I picked up another Diamond Star Hall of Famer. I am loving this set with each card I purchase. Looking for lower grades with little or no creases that present nice. These cards are 83 years old so as long as they have great eye appeal I am going to collect them.
I owe it all to this...
I didnt realize you were going after Triple Folders. I love that set and they are actually affordable (for the most part) as well. Nice collection you have going.
What I great idea for a off the beaten path autograph collection. Growing up in and around Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park in the late 60's and early 70's and having the great honor of working at Wrigley in the 80's I can think of several characters
Andy the Clown at Comiskey. He was a throw...
Looks like I have caught the Diamond Stars bug.
a few recent pick ups.
Legendary Yankees third baseman Red Rolfe. He played with Ruth, Gehrig and the rest of Murderers row from 1931 to 1942 after graduating from Yale. HE would go on to become a Major League manager and a front office...
Prices are almost always through the roof at the National as dealers are not looking to ditch their material but assume they are going to cash in because of the big money that is expected to walk through the door. I know many collectors who save up their money for the year and go to the...
Its funny that I was reading on the Net54 boards that there was more modern cards there than they had ever seen at a National before. There is no doubt vintage is king but even the last few Nationals I have attended in Chicago seem to have more and more modern represented.
I had a chance to pick up this King Carl at an incredible price. Due to the price it went for I thought for sure it will be beat up and nearly destroyed when I received it but that was not the case. It matches up on size, has no creases and smells like an old card should. That's two of the...
I have bought and sold my collection several times in the 40+ years I have collected and about ten years ago I sold off everything again, mainly because I realized my twenty-something year old children had no interest in whatever stuff I had. I lied to myself that the collection was for the...
I have to agree on the Diamond Stars. I have been contemplating the set for a year now. The checklist has a great number of hall of famers with no Ruth or Gehrig that will break the bank. The design is a throw back to the art-deco age which is in line with the era these cards were produced...
Junk is in the eye of the beholder. Their cards are nicely done but if you are looking for something vintage, well you just got taken. I really wish their titles in the Ebay postings were more honest as to what these cards are.
