There's actually more than that graded by PSA. They messed up the labeling and PSA didn't distinguish between bat up and bat down when they first grading the cards. 500ish is definitely the White Jersey SSPs if anything.
The bat down print run is tough to measure because they were put into...
I really like Tom Ricketts' response. Didn't beat around the bush and just straight up condemned his father's opinions.
On the flip side, Joe Ricketts is pretty clearly racist, hateful guy. I can only assume he's going senile if someone who was once in charge of a massive corporation like...
Anyone know what's up with these stamps on Foxx's bat pieces? Given that this isn't the only one, I'm guessing Panini bought the bat already cut up from Donruss who stamped the pieces with the bat size but I really have no idea. I just won this auction for what seemed like a fair price.
That Phil Nevin takes me back to 2006 when I was excited when the Twins picked the 35 year old up towards the end of the season since he had like 20 Hrs. Those were good years to be a Twins fan but when half your lineup consisted of Lew Fords, it makes you a little thirsty for some power.
Love...
It's actually the luckiest I've ever gotten in this hobby! I'm a Twins fan as well and pulled it myself out of a single box of 2012 NT when the product came out. While geeking out, I searched for examples of Carew writing his number on the end on his bat and lo and behold, the bat example on the...
He actually used to have a pretty nice auto IMO. Just realized how many times he had to sign and got a bit lazy. His AFLAC Auto from Ebay (not my card):
I don't know about Biggio over Pedro..
This website has all three plus Smoltz and Piazza. With the way the site is updating, Piazza will likely fall out but, the other four look to have a good shot.
Very cool to see. The most interesting part to me was seeing the players sit down and talk. Mantle and Mays looked so comfortable in front of the camera. For the 60's, Mantle was borderline eccentric. Mathews came off as a really nice guy too.
I think someone just really wanted that bat knob. Carew prices for modern cards tend to be pretty similar to Frank Robinson. Kind of tempts me to list mine though...
Google. If you google the cert number it brings up the auction where the bat was won. A lot of the older mem used in cards can be found this way. It's how I found that Panini got a bunch of the 2012 NT inventory was bought on Heritage.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, I think it means that the bat doesn't have enough provenance to say it was definitivley used in a game. The bat was the right model and had evidence of use but, it didn't come with absolute proof it was used by Rickey in an MLB game.
To cut Topps some slack...
