I posted this here as well when I originally completed it, but I have added the 1989 Topps Update since then. I am tempted to do Fleer and Donruss as well, but I have several other projects j want to finish first.
No. Fleer did though. Even though there is no 83 card with Fleer it is my favorite run, it has 18 cards instead of 16, which include the missing 96 and 98 that Topps did not include as well as a 1994 Fleer Update. I still have 2 or 3 left on it in Mint or better.
that is cool. I have done several football, the only other baseball I have done is Nolan Ryan that I have completed. The difference with this set is that I plan on finishing it all in PSA 10 and I am doing the full basic set, I am getting close to Donruss and Fleer as well
i got this card in to complete a basic Topps PSA player set
It was hard to pass up with a .99 starting auction even though I had a couple I was planning to sub.
Here is the rest of the Topps run including update/traded set issues. I still need to upgrade the 88 and 91 from 9s to 10s
There are people with this type of money to spend in the hobby. They just do not buy stuff like this. The buy high grade Mickey Mantle and Jackie Robinson cards. Nolan Ryan RCs in PSA 9. Not the same old tired autograph bs.
my list has changed since I made it at the first of the year but I did knock 3 off this list
if I were to make this list today it would look more like this
1. 1957 Topps Bart Starr PSA 6 or higher
2. Walter Payton PSA 9 1977-1985 (have the RC in PSA 9 want to do the basic set run)...
I look at fully burdened cost. I also use PSA. I do not go by their SMR values for current market value but instead use VCP and completed eBay sales to determine current value. I look at the money I have invested in the card, whether it is price of raw card plus grading fees or the cost of...
As a Rangers fan I am glad he will be gone. His contract like a few others is an albatross, since his retirement is due to injury he will get all the money he is promised (good for him). Insurance will kick in and pay some or all of the Rangers end, which hopefully means a deal for either...
Depends on the player, if it is a modern player I have no interest in his cards in PSA 9. If it is Nolan Ryan, Sandy Koufax, Pete Rose, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle or Roberto Clemente I am all over the PSA 9s.
I am also not a huge fan of cards made after a players retirement, or...
I thought I would post a link to my current progress on my Darryl Strawberry basic PSA 10 collection. I am about 1 year into this project and began with just the goal of adding Fleer and Topps. Well I have expanded it to His basic set, plus update issues and a few other (right now just the 1984...
I don't invest, but I continually profit off of the cards I buy and sell to sustain my hobby. I buy PSA graded rcs vintage and some modern. If you are looking to make money buying new stuff it is a losing bargain.
Ok splitting hairs but that card is o/c left to right which is a shame for a card of that stature. How did BGS give that a 9.5 centering? If they were going to fudge some on the grade because of the hobby significance of that card you would at least think they would bump something less obvious...
