    Braves Finalzing Justin Upton Trade...

I mentioned this to someone on the board but the Braves got another guy coming off TJ, another Tyler Pastornicky, another Chris Johnson, and another Jose Constanza. If Fried doesn't get back to what he was, they might not get a single everyday guy out of this deal. It is the anti-Teixeira...

    Insurance for collections?

$600 for $15k of coverage is really high. The traditional insurers can't compete on price for collectibles and my agent at State Farm told me it wouldn't be cost effective to use them. My collection is covered by Collectibles Insurance LLC and rates are much more reasonable. I can't say how...

    FINALIZED 2014 BOWMAN CHROME CHECKLIST

Just a brutal checklist for breakers. Is Urias the only auto that will sell for more than $15 after a few weeks? Definitely some long term potential here but I wouldn't be surprised to see boxes fall below $50 before too long.

This year's Bowman collation is awful!!

Topps collation has been brutal for years. Miss the days when cards were randomly packaged instead of always in the same sequence. Very frustrating for set builders. Not sure why they could be done randomly in the 80's but not now.

    Uhhh...

I still enjoy looking at the backs of cards and get made fun of because it can take me several hours to open a case of Bowman. That being said, dude is clearly baked.

Jose Fernandez Headed to the DL

Simply not true. Just from the guys Austin listed: Scheib threw 116 innings at age 20 and 199 at age 21 Feller threw 62 at age 17, 149 at age 18, 277 at age 19, and 296 at age 20 Mathewson threw 336 at age 20 Walter Johnson threw 110 at age 19 and 256 at age 20 Ryan threw 134 at age 21 Gooden...

Jose Fernandez Headed to the DL

This is why I hate when the Bowman checklists are too pitcher heavy. And not that anyone cares about anyone else's fantasy team but my rotation heading into this year consisted of Medlen, Beachy, Fernandez, Matt Moore, and Darvish. 4/5 wiped out by TJ.

2014 Topps Supreme Baseball-- Its coming to America

Another brand with potentially great looking cards ruined by stickers. No way I'm paying that price for stickers that look that bad. I understand the arguments for stickers. But then manufacturers need to understand many collectors won't buy a "premium" brand that have them.

The OFFICIAL 2014 Bowman Baseball Autograph Priceguide

And I got hit hard. Barrett black wave auto, blue refractor auto, and base auto in my jumbo case. Painful. The Bryant auto /35 I pulled from a blaster will probably be worth more than my entire case. Them's the breaks!

Jason Heyward WAR vs. Carlos Gonzalez WAR

Gold Gloves are extremely subjective and not always a very good indicator of defense. The voting has been a lot better the past few years but it still goes to the better offensive or better known players way more than it should. And yes Heyward is that good on defense. As jbhofmann noted...

4 Bowman Blasters - My best ever retail hit

Definitely not 1/1 as there is another on ebay. I think it is numbered to 35 but not positive.

4 Bowman Blasters - My best ever retail hit

John's Creek in the same shopping center as the Home Depot. Went to the one on Highway 9 first but they didn't have any out.

4 Bowman Blasters - My best ever retail hit

No doubt. My luck with baseball retail has never been very good - not that I buy it looking for big hits. Pulled a football redemption once for a ball signed by some of the 2007 rookie class (Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, Dwayne Bowe, JaMarcus Russell, Brady...

4 Bowman Blasters - My best ever retail hit

Picked up 4 blasters at Target on the way home from work mainly hoping to pull some Kris Bryant base cards for autographs tomorrow night in Chattanooga. First three yielded a Bryant mini chrome and a Michael Feliz auto but no Bryant base. Last blaster didn't have any Bryant base either but the...

Scott Sizemore Signs With the Yankees

Was hoping the Braves would pick him up in the hopes they would just cut their losses with Uggla. Sizemore is a great buy low option.

    Leaf Trinity Patches

Thanks Andrew! Figured there was something out there - I searched the Leaf forum but not the Baseball one. My bad.

    Leaf Trinity Patches

This has probably been asked before and I apologize if that is the case, but where did the patches come from for Leaf Trinity? Most of those guys have obviously yet to make the Majors so are they "event worn", from Spring Training, etc.? Also, what is up with Oscar Taveras' autograph on those...

    Nicest and Rudest Athletes?

I think it is totally fair to judge a guy's character by how he acts at a paid signing. In public or at the stadium is a different story. Those guys put up with so much crap on their free time (in public) or at work (the stadium), almost every single one will have their moments. A lot of them...

    HOF results are in

Absolutely. I could definitely see Gehrig, Foxx, Greenberg, Pujols, McCovey, and Thome ahead of Bagwell. I would struggle with the others but that is just me. But even putting all 9 ahead of him, it seems awfully tough to say there have only been 9 elite first baseman to play the game since...

Why Greg Maddux was not on my ballot

Nice post. Whether you agree with the conclusion or not, you can at least see the hypothetical logic for getting there. And this highlights why the 10 player maximum poses a real problem for some voters.
