I optimistically disagree. While I could be wrong, I don’t believe ‘98 Select was far enough in production for there to be multiple 1000ct boxes of product made, let alone an amount that high that escaped the destruction process and was backdoored. It was supposed to be a September 1998 release and the MLBP Inc. terminated Pinnacle’s license on July 21st.

I also believe that if a lot of product was indeed produced and survived, we all would have seen many more copies surface from this set and ‘98 Pinnacle Certified after almost 20 years.

However, I could be wrong, naive, misinformed or all of the above as all of these thoughts are speculative.

I agree with you. I do think it's a pretty safe bet that there are at least 3 copies of the Levels 1, 2 and 4 base cards and one copy of each level of the Jersey Numbers parallels. I also think there are actually 50 copies of each of the 5 Star Bonus cards.

I own two copies each of the jersey number 1 and 3 Star. They have been acquired at different times so hard to say. One pair was part of a full set but not sure if others just made it out as singles?

You didn't happen to get your Gwynns from a guy named SEWELL, did you?

The reason I ask is that I won this auction (not a BIN) from him back in 2012, for a great price, and he emailed me a few days later saying he "lost the cards" and refunded me. We all know what really happened.

You ask a question then answer it? No not a guy named Sewell. Or maybe 3rd I’d. Don’t know. It was a guy I knew for years and I didn’t know his father in law had passed. I forget his id.
Did not know he told you that, but I missed on most of his collection. As YOU I’m sure got steals. As you say here.
What happened with that. I didn’t know if he had up for auction and maybe he told you that to be nice.

I had got in late on the auctions and I paid him for like 3 books full on PayPal and he said pick out of what I got left and that was one of the several pages I picked. He doesn’t know every card like we do.

He the son in law didn’t care what he had and didn’t know so really I’m sure YOU have an extreme amount of cards from that for cheap that his father in law was gonna sell me. I meant him in 2000.

I answered your question honestly. So why the hostility. I mean if I didn’t want anybody to know something why would not have shared.

If you want the cards so bad I’ll sell them to you. I’m about over this collecting and bickering.

So to answer your question those were my cards (that I already paid for- on PayPal) and he must of put the wrong stuff up. He didn’t know what he was doing and you know that. And if I was as close in touch with the father As I used to be he would have sold me the entire collection.

Furthermore a a a never mind

Hope that seals your 5 year hatred toward me. I thought we were fellow gwynn collectors.

Like you said I was and have the best gwynn collection before.

You want them there yours. I’ll sell them to you fair, but I sure as heck ain’t giving them to you.

Thanks
