It was supposed to be a September 1998 release and the MLBP Inc. terminated Pinnacleís license on July 21st.

I also believe that if a lot of product was indeed produced and survived, we all would have seen many more copies surface from this set and Ď98 Pinnacle Certified after almost 20 years.

However, I could be wrong, naive, misinformed or all of the above as all of these thoughts are speculative.

Have not seen a scan of the Tier 1 but I assume it exists.

In fact, based on the uptick in product on the market lately, I assume at least a couple of copies of the entire run of base, parallel and insert sets exists.
Let the MLB know youíd like to see UD back. The license comes up in a couple years and they listen on social media.

You didn't happen to get your Gwynns from a guy named SEWELL, did you?

The reason I ask is that I won this auction (not a BIN) from him back in 2012, for a great price, and he emailed me a few days later saying he "lost the cards" and refunded me. We all know what really happened.

You ask a question then answer it? No not a guy named Sewell. Or maybe 3rd Iíd. Donít know. It was a guy I knew for years and I didnít know his father in law had passed. I forget his id.
Did not know he told you that, but I missed on most of his collection. As YOU Iím sure got steals. As you say here.
What happened with that. I didnít know if he had up for auction and maybe he told you that to be nice.

I had got in late on the auctions and I paid him for like 3 books full on PayPal and he said pick out of what I got left and that was one of the several pages I picked. He doesnít know every card like we do.

He the son in law didnít care what he had and didnít know so really Iím sure YOU have an extreme amount of cards from that for cheap that his father in law was gonna sell me. I meant him in 2000.

I answered your question honestly. So why the hostility. I mean if I didnít want anybody to know something why would not have shared.

If you want the cards so bad Iíll sell them to you. Iím about over this collecting and bickering.

So to answer your question those were my cards (that I already paid for- on PayPal) and he must of put the wrong stuff up. He didnít know what he was doing and you know that. And if I was as close in touch with the father As I used to be he would have sold me the entire collection.

    Furthermore a a a never mind

Hope that seals your 5 year hatred toward me. I thought we were fellow gwynn collectors.

Like you said I was and have the best gwynn collection before.

You want them there yours. Iíll sell them to you fair, but I sure as heck ainít giving them to you.

    Thanks

I thought you were referring to the base, not the parallels.

Its really disappointING that Pinnacle/Select didn't stick around for a few more years. The evolution of their insert technology was getting really interesting.

Completely agree. '98 Select had the typical "super sweet" designs of this era for their base and inserts while '98 Pinnacle Certified was stunning - it pulled off the high-end look and feel that was intended.

Very nice. Respectfully however, these were from Pinnacle Certified, not Select (no Epix were to be inserted into the Select brand).
