I'd take Sabathia over Hughes in a second.
Sabathia sucked today, but was great in his last start ( 7 innings, 2 er, 9 ks).
He's been hot and cold and still has 9 wins.
Hughes has been mostly terrible and never lived up to his potential.
Sabathia will be great again.
He pitched some awesome games in April and May.
Maybe he's hurt.

More like ( 5 innings, 7 er, 5 ks).

He's been hot and cold and still has 9 wins.

And 8 losses.

True, but take a look at their stats. The only category that Sabathia leads Hughes in is IP and Strikeouts.

Just like how Sabathia said his velocity would come back when it got hot? Nope.

Phil Hughes had some awesome games in April and May too.

Maybe he's hurt.

Cool, then he should go on the DL, and stop hurting the Yankees.

Don't be one of those Yankees fans that give other fans a bad name because you abandon a player when they have a bad game or month.

An "ace" having an ERA near 5 at the end of July is hardly a bad game or month.

Well everyone disagrees with you so....it may not be as obvious as you think.

Sabathia: FIP: 4.14 xFIP: 3.59 (including today's start)
Hughes: FIP: 4.45 xFIP:4.38

Combine that with the fact that Sabathia has been excellent since 2006, whereas Phil Hughes has never had a good year as a starter...

Can't believe how mediocre Hughes has been - maybe it was the NYY hype that made him seem like a potential No. 1 or No. 2 as a prospect - maybe it was collecting cards on the old Beckett Message Boards.

CC's stuff is average at best now. Anyone watching him this year can easily see it. I watch every game and it doesnt sound all that crazy. Hughes needs a better mental approach.

Average is a little generous.

Only Joe Blanton has given up more total bases than CC Sabathia this year.

CC is getting hit this year when his command is off, this is something that can be remedied. Phil Hughes would be a much better pitcher in a different ballpark. He gives up too many fly balls which, in Yankee Stadium, end up being home runs. I would take Sabathia over Hughes without even having to think about it.

And CC Sabathia yet again fails to cover first base, and allowed the PITCHER to reach with two outs. The next batter hit a triple.

I told Braves fans that the Braves should trade for CC. No need to worry about snapped ankles, as he never covers first.

He's the only qualified pitcher who doesn't have a putout this year. In fact, he didn't have a putout this year. Or the second half of 2011.

His last putout was JUNE 25th 2011.
