Honestly I'd just go to Target and buy their HP all in one that's one step above the cheapest. That's always worked well for me.
My Canon MP 160 malfunctioned quickly, but was under warranty and the refurbished one lasted well for 5 years. Cheaper than a CCD scanner, but slab labels are still legible. Scans of all non slab cards look good. Very easy to use, which convinced me to buy a Canon all in one CCD. That machine is a lot more difficult to use.
