Why baby Urias the way LA is? Stretch him out for God's sake. Let the kid deal with facing a lineup 2-3 or even 4x in a game. I don't think he's being handled well and it could be a big shock to everyone when the demands of a full season are finally put on his shoulders and he's never even had to handle that at the minor league level!

Perhaps LA's player development staff should read about Dwight Gooden?

In 1983, at age 18, Dwight Gooden averaged over 7 IN per start, over 27 starts, striking out 300 batters in 191 IN for Class A Lynchburg. Gooden then made the jump from A-Ball to the Majors, obviously being ready for the demands of a full MLB season, where he was counted on every 4th/5th day to start and pitch deep into games -- something Urias has never had to deal with. Urias is 19 now, and yeah, it's great he's at AAA and doing well, but Gooden was already on the Mets MLB team at age 19 and he managed to start 31 games and pitch 218 IN (over 7 IP ave. per start) and had a phenomenal season, winning Rookie of the Year and finishing second in the Cy Young voting. Did the Mets baby him?? No. He then went on to win the Cy Young his sophomore season, then led the Mets to a World Series championship in 1986 at age 21 in just his third year in MLB. I think LA is hoping for such things from Urias, but they aren't preparing him the same way at all.

Savage.

[In reference to Taillon]: And if Francisco Pena woke up today with knee pain, we can understand, given how badly Taillon buckled him on this curveball Thursday.
