This Dynasty 1/1 cut is 99.5% fake

I have been collecting Hank Greenberg for the better part of 10 years, and have never seen an autograph of his that look like this. I would love to see the COA.

His autographs usually look like this:

There are no characteristics of the Dynasty cut that even resemble any of the usual characteristics of his autograph. Given slight changes, I have given examples above of different iterations of his signature.

What say you all? Could this be an autograph he signed when he was in middle school in the 1920's? Pretty unacceptable from Topps' higher end products.

Unfortunately, unless you are in possession of the card, Topps doesn't care what you have to say. Buy it, then they will address your concerns.

It doesn't even look like a "fake" auto, it's not even close. It does look more like they used an auto of the wrong Hank Greenberg.

I missed the link and was looking at the first picture, thinking "what the hell are all of you thinking, that auto looks fine to me". I found the link and now understand. I wonder what the source of that listing auto was. That certainly doesn't look anything like his traditional autograph for sure.

Let me play Devil's advocate here: does no one think it looks a "little" like the facsimile auto on the postcard/card from the SGC slab? Like, maybe that's how "teenage/20's" Greenberg signed?

I don't see anything remotely close. Unless you want to stretch to say the right side of the H, but that's really not very close.

I sure do. Back when my southpaw obsession was in full swing, I thought I found the holy grail.

Alas, this was Ed Plank of the 78-79 Giants...not legendary Gettysburg Eddie of Mack's Athletics.

These signatures are still similar to the known Greenberg samples. The HA and G (along with the rest of the signature) on the 1/1 are so different, it leads me to believe it is a completely different Hank Greenberg, OR (which would be much better scenario) it is a very early version of Greenberg's signature.
