Personally, I don't buy into this. At the end of the day, teams want the best talent available. Anyone with a brain in their head knows that not every prospect will become elite. Teams shouldn't be told what to do by the league in terms of selecting or not selecting whomever is available. Most high school players who are taken in the later rounds have strong college commitments so they have no intention of signing anyway. If the player firmly believes they are the next thing since sliced bread, why delay their dream? Every single one of us invests in ourselves at one point or another. College isn't for everyone, however.

Regardless, this seemed like a great article to have some discussions.

I'd rather they put a moratorium on talent showcases sponsored by companies like Under Armor for high school kids. All these cats have cooked rotator cuffs and elbows by the time they make an MLB roster, after years of getting overworked and trying to light up radar guns for dummy scouts.

Of course that's what Boras wants to do. He's all about what makes him more money. By going to college, you could weed out the high school guys who a team would potentially miss on in the draft, which would in turn make the college talent stand out more which would then make for higher pay days when they sign or reach free agency bigger down the road.
