I found an old Hot List article from 2013. It's fun to look back.

With the Super Bowl over, two things happen immediately: One, Super Bowl MVP’s card prices go up along with any other hero’s, and two, people get into baseball mode.

This seems to be the theme of this week’s list. While Super Bowl heroes like Joe Flacco and Jacoby Jones’ cards heated up, so did top baseball prospects’ cards. Pitchers and catchers report next week, and slowly, but surely, you will see baseball prices climb as spring training approaches.

#1 Joe Flacco Autos
Winning Super Bowl MVP is no small feat, and after the Ravens defeated the 49ers, Joe Flacco can now be considered more than an “average” QB. Maybe he has to win another Super Bowl or two to be considered “elite,” but he is on his way to making “elite” bucks with an extension.

Anything with Joe Flacco’s name heated up, especially the day after the Super Bowl. His basic 2008 Stadium Club autos rose from $30 to $75 in a mere week.

#2 Jacoby Jones Autos
Going from number 3 receiver on a Ravens team to becoming a Super Bowl hero actually did happen overnight. He took a kick return for a touchdown for a playoff record of 108 yards. He also caught a 56-yard touchdown from Flacco in the first half.

Jones’ 2007 SP Authentic Autos out of 999 rose quickly from $1 to $15 overnight before eventually leveling out to $8 by the end of the week.

#3 2013 Topps World Series Relics and Relic Autos
With 2013 Topps coming out, the most sought after autographed or relic cards seem to be the World Series relics and autos. Maybe a 49ers fan made themselves feel better by buying a $300 Buster Posey San Francisco Giants World Series Relic Auto /50 like the one pictured. Or maybe get a “cheap” basic relic for $40.

#4 2012 Panini USA Carlos Rodon Patches and Autos
Rated number one by many scouts for the 2014 draft class, Carlos Rodon is the ace of the NC State Wolfpack. He garnished the cover of this week’s Baseball America after going 9-0 with a 1.57 ERA last year.

Although there have not been many sales, the price of his basic cards are ridiculous. A base card from the USA boxed set goes for $5+, and this patch card /35 went for a solid $56.

#5 2012 Bowman Chrome Xander Bogaerts Autos
Ranking number 5 overall in Keith Law’s top 100 prospects has possibly had an impact on Bogaerts and others’ cards. Being compared to Hanley Ramirez is no small feat either. The question that many scouts have brought up is, will he stick at shortstop? That remains to be seen, but he did hit an impressive 20 homeruns last year between A and AA.

Bogaerts’ base chrome auto cards have jumped from $75 to $85, and his refractor autos continue to go for insane prices.

#6 2012 Bowman Draft Addison Russell Chrome Autos
Following Bogaerts as the third top rated shortstop on Law’s list at number 10 overall, Addison Russell ranks higher than any other player in the 2012 draft, even higher than the number one pick in Carlos Correa. In 2012, he made an impressive debut by batting .369 with 7 homeruns over 3 levels. Yes, I said 3 levels! That shows maturity and he should continue to improve in 2013 and should reach the majors quicker than most high schoolers that were drafted in 2012.

His cards have jumped considerably over last week. Base autos could be had at $35, but now have risen up to $50. A gold refractor auto recently sold for $460. Law’s rankings could have definitely had an impact.

#7 2012 Bowman Chrome Draft Corey Seager Autos
Another shortstop managed to make the list. Corey Seager, younger brother of Kyle, is an advanced hitter as well for his age (18). Being a Dodgers prospect does help his value, but his .309 batting average and solid 8 homeruns in Rookie League also helped.

Seager’s basic Bowman Draft auto sold for $30 the previous week, but jumped up to $40 this week.
