Look, I'm gonna be honest with you. I really need a job. And I will take any position, as long as it doesn't involve having sex with old ladies for money or bear traps. Those are my two bugaboos. While mulling over my resume feel free to check out my baseball card collection, it's small and simple, kinda like me - >>>>> http://s822.photobucket.com/user/JDf...ds%20n%20stuff

Right now I am a C player in chess, two notches below JVHaste. I have not played for years, but that is my floor since I used to be at the upper levels of class B at one time.
    Cool, best of luck.

I am getting worse with all this fun speed chess at lichess First I was too slow from all the correspondence chess, now Im too swindley with the blitz

Pretty soon I should be doing a training program to try to get Master. I'm thinking about 5k tactics puzzles in all themes and maybe 2 or so endgame books. It will be a battle of boredom, which is the cream dream for us chess nuts

Gotta catch 3 billion pokemon worldwide this week to unlock Farfetch'd!!!

I've done my part, caught about 150 today. My brother got a few hundred. Mom caught a handful.

Totally dressing up as pikachu to get the hype going in my hood

All my chess friends are master or higher (a few FMs, IMs and a couple of GMs). I am the noob of the bunch. But here is one thing I learned from two FMs (one is a hustler, the other is a GM-killer at G/30) and an IM: look for all threats before thinking of your own move. They told me this one tidbit on separate occasions. I did not think they had the same thought process. I learned a lot at the Marshall when I used to be active in tournaments there.

I am trying to think how I would rate myself in spotting threats... probably decent, but the problem is I just ignore and swing in for a bigger threat (whether its sound or not). I realize the source of this problem is not that I want to attack a ton, but that my endgames are horsesht

Marshall chess club!? That's awesome. What I bet I need more than anything is an area like that to just play a lot of games. I live in rural spot so I mostly read chess books which aren't the same.

You can go on ICC (Internet Chess Club) and play all you want. Yes, it costs $70/year (that calculates to less than 20 cents per day). You can play bullet, blitz, G/30, and even standard time controls. They hold mini-tournaments of various time controls throughout the day. You can also play against computers at all levels. The good ones will pounce on every tactical error you make, so it makes for a good training partner. They also have tactical and endgame puzzles for different levels. I used to be on there, but I no longer have the time to play, let alone study. I only read chess literature for leisure. One book I would recommend for your level is Perfect Your Chess by Andrei Voloktin. It is a difficult book, but it is a book that helps you train your way of thinking.

I might try to squeeze in 1 long game per week. My setback earlier was I realized that playing 2d screens somehow didn't translate to real boards later on. This was a few years ago when it was only common to get 30min games on freesites. If I did a 90min game I could probably set up a real board and only input the moves on the comp.

The advice to play against high level computer programs seems best, as that would really force me to cut down swindley attacks... basically I would be trying to hang on as I get whooped around (could build toughness)

I am reading the pdf sample for that book. It appears to have lots of puzzles to solve to go along with it, looks good. I badly need to sell some books first though, might have over 200.

First time opening App since he became available, he was literally in my house! This tells me he won’t be too hard!

Nice! That's what my mom & brother said. Very few pokemon show up within walking distance of where I live so I used an incense at my house 30 minutes after he was released but didn't get him. I'm about to head out and do some hunting, hopefully I'll get him quickly.
