Clayton Kershaw is once again pitching like a stud at 14-2 with a 2.18 ERA. But one thing that anyone who has watched him has noticed is that he is giving up a ton of home runs. He has had 19 starts and given up 18 home runs.
Of the 18 home runs that Kershaw has given up, 12 were with the bases empty, while 6 had 1 runner on. This means that he has given up a total of 24 runs due to long balls.
What is insane is that he has only given up 32 runs on the season. This means that outside of home runs he has given up just 8 runs all season.
Not really sure what to make of it, and it's pretty much the first time in his career that his home run rate is anywhere near this high (he already has given up more home runs this season than any other in his career) but thought it was interesting.
