I'm not doing the math but the average player salary then compared to the commissioners salary is likely comparative to average salary today compared to Manfred.

Highest paid player that year made $25,000. To be fair part of that was tied to the owners using the war as an excuse to push down salaries. Ruth made $80,000 one season and Hank Greenberg was making $55,000 just a few years before.
