Found these two progressive color proofs in a dollar box. Both are blank backed and the paper is more like what might have been used for a traded set, all white. The 89 MVP designation caught my eye, as I couldn't recall what the regular 90 T Mitchell looked like. Pretty neat and not one I have seen before.

Fort comparison, here is the original 90 T Mitchell. As with most of these types of discoveries, they should have gone with the proof design over the final design in my opinion.

Interesting for sure.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the release date of 1990 Topps was probably right around when he was named MVP.

Would there have been enough time to get that card printed and packed into the basic 1990 set?

Maybe it was slated for some store exclusive insert or pack insert

FYI, this is part of the 1990 Topps Award Winners set. Its an uncut sheet of 6 cards that were available with the yearbook sticker set.

Thank you. That seems to be the source. Mine were likely from a proof sheet. Now, the question would be, which version came in the set?

Looks like I didn't dig deep enough. It appears the sheet that comes in the fairly common yearbook set (4-5 on eBay now for under $20) has the unique poses, and the sheet with the regular issue cards may have been a pre-production sheet. It was shared by someone on another forum.s-l1600-2.jpg
