SGC is my first option when looking to buy an older card, as I also prefer their setup as opposed to PSA. An 40 on an SGC card is a nice, not quite too expensive grade card on the tobacco cards especially and is a grade of choice by me, usually.
DANNY

I agree. A SGC 40, for me, is a reasonably attainable card that still looks nice and I enjoy looking at. Anything above gets to spendy for a set builder and anything less tends to have serious flaws that bother me.

Except for the Lajoie! That card is awesome, would love one of those one day. I've been reading alot of dead ball era books the last year and he (and crawford) are becoming my favorites from the era.

A nice T206 at the right price:

It's low grade for sure, but the combo of a Lajoie portrait with an Old Mill back made this card worth it.
Great card!!!!!!!!!

I already had one of these 1966 Topps Rub-Offs of Mantle, but it wasn't centered as nicely as this one that arrived today.

Very nice Danny....gonna put the one you replaced on your arm? :)

Nope....don't even think I'll rub it off on paper! I think I have a page that I had as a kid of those I rubbed off on paper ::facepalm:: I'll post it if I can find it.

Great pick-ups everyone! Well, I would say it's safe to say I'm back to building the 55 Topps set in PSA 6 or better. I've received 7 new cards this week and just added this one tonight that some may recognize ;)

My T206 Chicago Cubs portraits: two have creases, but all have back damage. Can't tell when looking at the front, eh? But that's okay. I don't look at the backs anyway, unless it's for my Bill Bergen (T206, batting) collection. :benson:

I also collect vintage horse racing cards. I find these cards to be very beautiful cards even though they are not as popular as the baseball products.

These are two from a full set of thirty-six cards (Wills' Cigarettes 1938):

And three from a full set of fifty cards (Ogden's 1938):

Very nice Turkey Red. Much love for the ad back! More interesting to me than the checklist backs.
Cool horse racing cards, in particular the Wills' Cigarettes ones.
