I just got the 1996 fleer silver foil of Dean Palmer in the mail... got it from another trader... does anyone know where these came from? It seems thinner than his regular card. Are they all thinner?

I have a bunch of these (all commons) but have no idea for sure they were in packs.

If I can find them I'll offer them in the bst section.

For what it's worth...one more little contribution. 1993 Donruss Triple Play. There's noticeable variation on the diagonal silver "TRIPLE PLAY" text on card backs. It ranges from extremely dim, almost not noticeable, to very bright and crisp. In either case, the rest of the card looks exactly the same, even with the brightness of the silver-colored text. So my guess is that this is an intentional change in printing with that specific text. Especially since the main difference between preview cards for this set and the normal cards is found in this text. Not posting scans, it's pretty obvious if you look at scans on COMC.
Collecting Roberto Alomar cards. Got rare ones? PM me and let's make a deal!
Some key cards still on the wantlist:
1992 Star Promo - 1993 Pinnacle Cooperstown Promo
1995 Score Rules Jumbo - 1996 Aficionado First Pitch Preview
1996 Select Mirror Blue & Gold - 1997 Fleer Ultra Platinum Medallion
1997 Pinnacle Totally Certified Platinum Gold - 1997 Topps Stars All-Stars
1997 Score Platinum and Premier Club Teams - 1998 Bowman's Best Atomic

I thought the "dim" text ones were the Triple Play Promos

On the promo cards it's not the brightness of the Triple Play text on back, it's the look of the text. On regular cards, whether the printing is bright or dim, the letters are thin and crisp. On promo cards the letters are fatter and fuzzier. When I finally found my promo I posted scans on the first page of this thread:

The elusive variation card to me is a mint 1979 Topps #11 Marc Hill. Almost the entire press run had smudges on the black press plate, so the name is smudged and image is blurry. I did find one with clean print, but very poor centering. I also found one smudged that graded as a PSA 10. I know they exist because I saw a mint card a few years ago, but the guy wanted $200 for it - so I must not be the only guy looking for it.
