Thanks Don!

I know you'll have luck with him. I wouldn't stress about it too much. I would actually bring about 8-10 pieces with you, I'll bet he signs for you every day. Be sure to update us while you're down there.

Got up at 5: 45am and drove to Viera (Nationals Camp) for the Nats vs. Cardinal Game. I got to Viera around 7:45am. The game does not start till 1. Strasburg was set to pitch against Wainwright. Cool right? Too bad i would never make it to the game. As im waiting over on the nationals side of the entrance players start arriving. Zimmerman , Dunn, Livan Hernandez, Adam Kennedy just kept walkin. The only auto i got was from Willie Harris. At this point is 8:15am and the guy next to me tells me his buddy was at Jupiter and watched the cardinals board the bus. He then told me that Pujols, MCGWIRE, and Holliday did not board it. Now i was stuck in a pickle. McGwire last week did not go on bus to Port St. Lucie for the game against the mets, but showed up during the beginning of the 1st inning. So i did not know whether to stay or go to Jupiter where he was prolly hanging out on the practice fields doing BP. So i stay and wait for the cardinal bus to arrive. It's 10am, the bus arrives, no Albert, No Mac, No Holliday. Wainwright is the only guy who stops and signs, Does 5 then goes in. I look at my dad and say "WERE GOING TO JUPITER ASAP". Arrive at Roger Dean Stadium. I go to the players parking lot, find out where the practice fields are, before i can start walking , i see MCGWIRE in the distance going into the clubhouse with his 2 young kids. I was then told by a guy there he had signed this morning at 10am and signed for about 25 people. So i say whatever, might as well try for him on his way out. Fast forward now till 1:30. I have my 98 Game Used Bat with me, along with a blown up 8x10 of me and Mac from the steiner meet and greet. He gets into his car with his 2 kids, his wife was following in another car behind him. As he approaches the exit, i stand on the side and wave the 8x10 of me and him as he approaches the gate. He sees the picture and slows down, drives up to the exit where im standing, points to me and rolls the window down! I say "Mark, it's the fan club member from NJ" (the line i been saying to him since 89' and he signed for me 95% of the time from 89-01 after i would say this line to him. he remembered me when i met him in 2004 after i told him i was the fan club member from NJ. So i ask him when he rolls the window down, if he can sign my bat, he says sure, as he is signing i tell him i have had his back all these years and hes been my hero since i was 7. He reaches out to shake my hand, after i shake his hand i then ask him if he can also sign the 8x10 he says no problem, he then says thanks for all the support! He then signs for a couple more people and drives away. If i dont wave the 8x10 of me and him in front of his car then he definaltey drives past. Today does not get any better for a MAC Nut like me.... And here are the PICS !!!!

MAC on his way out with his family.

Here is the Report for Game 2 of my Spring Training McGwire Quest....

Today's game was The Cardinals vs the Mets at tradition Field.

When people said this place was not condusive for autographs they were right, maybe it's because today was my first time there but this place does not have the feel of a graphing faciltiy. Got there early enough to be first in line on the way in. I had purchased my tix in NJ before i came here on the net. I had to buy a field box seat so i had access to the inside area for autographs as i had no access if i had a Burm ticket which i did not know, so i gave the mets a nice 12 donation so i could graph.

Anyway got in there, and let me say again that i could give 2 ****s about the cardinals and their PLAYERS, the only reason im down here is because of mcgwire. No one touched a pen. Pujols made the trip but did not look at fans or anyone after he did infield & outfield. Colby Rasmus signed 3 before he took BP and he was done. Yadi Molina didn't touch a pen. I was able to get Tony LaRussa which was cool because i have loved LaRussa as I grew up a A's fan. So im stationed down the line behind 1st Base.

Mac after BP walked into the dugout and stops at the ledge. I had a feeling in my stomach that it would be the spot where he would stop. And of course i do not listen to myself and im missing out. And immediatley it becomes a squishing contest. I immediatley run over to the scene. There was a line leading to where people were just sticking stuff over the top down to him. Line? There is no such thing as a line when it is all or nothing, and i have waited wayyyy to long be a nice guy and wait especially for my all time favorite player. Not to mention most of the people going for him were 45-50 year old men (no disrespect to older members here). Call me a dick but im a true fan, and the fact is i was the biggest mcgwire fan in the stadium today. So i go over to the frenzy and just reach out and stick my ticket down and kept repeating " mark can you sign my ticket?" Luckily i had a opening for my arm and then my ticket is being taken out of my hand and i see another hand reaching for my sharpie........I see through a opening a FULL signature appearing on my ticket.....but this is not "any" ticket....it is probably THEE ticket to have McGwire sign...and did i mention it is UNUSED??

And once again I set out what i came here to do....

1/1 Mark McGwire

62nd HR FULL UNUSED Ticket

the days totals:

1/1 Tony LaRussa Card
1/1 MAC Thee Ticket
