I'm sure with the vast knowledge base of this board someone will have the particulars of the R&N China porcelain Topps cards. Years ago I picked up an Ozzie rookie reprint that is porcelain but it wasn't until fairly recently that I was made aware that more of these reprint cards were produced in the 1990's. I picked up the two below and now I'm wondering which other years were made and why they appear to be so rare (first two I've seen) if they are numbered to 5000?

I like them, I think they are pretty cool, but now I've got to figure out how many more I've got to track down. Any help would be appreciated and I'm sure you guys know what's up with these cards.

Thanks.

Don't know if it's the same, but early 90s I remember having an 86 TT Canseco one. It had a home plate shaped wood base though, not square like yours.

I don't have any of Sandberg's yet, but this post suggests that there were sets from 93-98 as well as a RC reprint of a few players.

I can give info based on what I know about my Hendersons. There are many different numbering variations on his rookie card replicas. Bobotai is right, from 93-98 they produced a card, mug, tankard, & plate for each year. There may also be a magnet for each also, but I dont have any Henderson magnets from 93-98. I do know that in 95 they produced a small non-ceramic magnet that is very rare. As a matter of fact, all of this stuff is rare. I stumbled upon a guy years ago who would order them for me. I wish I knew about the magnets. Aside from the ones I have, I have never come across any mugs, tankards, or plates on Ebay or anywhere else since. I may have come across a listing once or twice for a Henderon card. The Henderson rookie cards are fairly common with I believe about six different numberings so far. Somewhere out there is a warehouse full of this stuff. I hope it sees the light of day.

I did a post about them, too, on my blog:

http://clydes-stalecards.blogspot.com/2 ... eball.html

I still update the 1993 checklist whenever I find evidence of another card.

From what I've been able to scrape together, 1993 was the only year they attempted to reproduce the entire set in porcelain, with cards numbers in multiples of 5 (all the stars in the set) being produced in quantities of 5000, and all the other cards in quantities of 1000. 1993 is the only year I've see commons done in porcelain. The other years, up to 1998 or 1999, it has just been stars like Smith, Ripken, Ryan, Sandberg, etc.

I don't have any of his cards, but I do have the magnet - if you're looking to update your post for future reference.

In 1998 they did some Limited Platinum Edition sets where they printed entire runs of Topps cards. McGwire for example had a set of 15 produced spanning from his rookie season through 1998. I don't know who else they did this for so you should check that out.

Regarding the rest, I don't recall how to tell which were fakes and which were not, but I also remember they produced bronze variations of a few of their cards as well.

If you go to my site and search bronze you'll see the bronze ones, if you search porcelain you'll find a list of all the R&N's we've found.

Very cool site. I hope Henderson is not involved in that platinum or bronze. I have never heard of fakes with these, have you?

I haven't but I wouldn't be surprised if they exist :)

I have about eight Nolan Ryan cards from 1993 that are from this company as well. The certificates say something about The Hamilton Collection. If someone wants the info I can provide scans.

I remember passing up a 1997 topps china porcelain. I'm wondering if it was from this set or just a base.

I have never seen nor heard of a Bagwell at all. Kinda odd too because the channels I usually go through...you'd think I would have seen one by now. I do however own one of the Ryan's I believe.

I have seen the follow Pete Rose in R&N but as others have said if 5000 of these were made I think 4995 broke :> There should be a 1964 topps Rose card, 1982 topps magnet, and 64 and 80 mug but I've never seen them.

I had never seen an Ozzie either until these. They must be incredibly rare despite the numbers because I've spoken with several player collectors now that don't have theirs and have never seen an example. Just another example of when you think you've seen it all and something else pops up.
