That doesn't seem that outrageous compared to what I got for my Andruw. $204. I'm assuming there are quite a few collectors that going after this set.

I don't know if you would call this a McGwire rainbow, but it is one I really want to complete. But with the 1999 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors being limited to 25, I doubt I'll find any of these soon. The refractor and international refractor sure look nice though.

Over in the 1998 Topps Tek thread a newer member named rinkrat is working on the complete set of Diffractors. We recently worked a big trade including this:

Pattern 52

I'm not a huge Bagwell fan, but his Gold Leaf Rookies has always been one of my favorite cards of his. So when 1998 Leaf included it in their Curtain Calls subset, I've always wanted this Diamond Axis. I couldn't believe it went at auction for $12 - my max bid was a lot higher:

The Bags is numbered to /50 right? If so, yeah, I have it too. I didn't pay much for mine either. I don't even think it was as much as you paid. A few years ago stuff just seemed cheaper. Now I'm having dogfights with everyone and their brother for Bags stuff. It's crazy. Glad I got some of the cards I did when I did.

This is my favorite set, and having the "rainbow" of McGwire only makes it that much better.

And this "rainbow" is almost done, I just need that elusive Team Finest Gold Refractor /25, which is close to impossible to find (even though there is one on ebay, and the guy wants over a grand for it!! haha)

Almost completely done this 1999 Finest Set of McGwire. Just need the Prominent Figures /70, and the Split screen and compliments base (NO-REFRACTOR on either side, which is surprisingly the hardest to find)

Do those actually exist? I've never seen or heard of or even considered the existance of Split Screens or Complements with neither side being Refs...are they printing errors?

Oh XXXX maybe you're right?! I don't know, but I have never really seen any of them. Well I hope you are right, because then all I will need to complete the entire set is the Prominent Figures /70 :D

Andruw is numbered to 18 A-rod to 100....more than 5 times as many A-rod cards than Andruws out there. Not to mention yours was graded gem by BGS. Granted, the grading doesn't add much value in this case. You really don't feel that was an 'odd' sale for $500?
