So what would this bring? A 1996 EX-L Defense Insert Raul Mondesi / Ken Griffey JR error. Back is Griffey.

These dollar pickups can't happen that often right? Makes me want to make it to the national some day!

During the late 90s/early 2000s when inserts were WORTHLESS and everyone was going after RCs & Game Used, a ton of inserts got thrown into junk boxes. It seems like a lot of dealers never realized the market swung back around.

I have been to the national I think 8 times now and this was the best luck I've had. I think for a while people weren't bringing these type of cards because people would ignore those boxes because they were "older" cards.

It makes me excited for next year

So true. Just the last couple years I have been pulling inserts I passed over years ago. Its was pure RC based. It was JD Drew or Troy Glaus fueled.

I haven't been knocking anything "big" off my list lately like most people but I won something today that will look very nice in this thread, pretty excited about it, stay tuned...

Bummer. There was a thread on Collectors Universe that showed that the guy picked up the card for a buck at an antiques shop.

The Belle ended at $70, which kind of surprised me. Had other bidders at 68 and 69, but next highest bid was $11 and change. In the past 4 years or so I've only seen one other copy, which I bought. It had been listed forever at $99 IIRC, and I finally snagged it after realizing they don't come up often. I knew I overpaid a little, but it was well worth it as that is one of my favorite card designs of all time and very high on my want list at the time.

80+ '97 EX Essential Credentials #/99 ended tonight. https://www.ebay.com/sch/Baseball-C...Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_from=R40&_nkw=essential

Top Sales:
Griffey - $900
Bonds - $340
Ripken - $310
Thomas - $245
RJ - $200 (I won, lost previous one @ $250)

Anyone else come out on top?

The Ripken was weird, it had serial 104 /299 though it clearly was the /99 card. I didn't want to bid on it personally, but I'm not sure if it went higher due to being an error or lower because people wanted to skip out.
