I was the under-bidder on two and already received 2nd chance offers for both. Can't say I feel too positive about that.

Ugh, for what players? It's always hard to tell if there is actual shilling going on when a full set like this is listed since people tend to go after multiple players which inflates the bid%, but the 2COs tells you enough.

Go get 'em Pete!

Hey there, Dan!

Mo Vaughn and Alou; looks like I was 3rd-highest bidder on one of them, which makes me think this is even more odd.

1998 Sports Illustrated First Edition 1/1

I know that there are more than one of these out there. I believe that this is the pack pulled version. The reason being is I purchased the other bagwell 1st edition, card #183 on ebay a few years ago and the seller was selling both bagwell 1st edition cards. Me and another bagwell collector decided to split the two and we each won one of them. I find it more likely that those were the backdoored version considering the seller had both of them.

Dan

I want to say if you still have the one from ebay, and this one, there could be a total of three. I was alerted by astroburn one day about a seller selling them. I think he had a copy up of yours(183) as well. I told him I already had one of the cards up for sale as did you. In any case, guy was asking a mint for them and with the knowledge that we both had a version, I just kept it in my watch list with intent to buy. Maybe yours is from the same seller although the ones on ebay were not graded. This is the kind of stuff that scares me about higher end cards now. I'm glad when we initially purchased/split the two on ebay, they went for peanuts.

The McGwire Essential 024/099 is showing as sold on 7/23 for $449.99. Could have been best offer maybe, although it falls between a $415 listing and $450 listing. Now it (024/099 same card) sold for $139.39. Different sellers. Ouch.

Downright questionable stuff. The 07/23 card was a 90sCardCollector item. Same card ends up with another seller, and 90sCardCollector is bidding on it (feedback 7254).

Now that's what I call reloading on inventory!

This sort of thing happens a lot at pawn shops, less often in baseball card land but it does happen. I know I have previously re-bid on things I have sold to others just months prior.

I don't see why the seller of the recent auctions, who seems to basically have broken sets, would have just paid that strong only to go to auction w it in 2 weeks. I mean money stuff could always come up, but it doesn't seem you'd pay that strong thinking there was money to be made really.
