DENVER -- Colorado Rockies right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez says he has been traded to the Cleveland Indians.

The Indians will send the 27-year-old right-hander to Cleveland for pitching prospects Drew Pomeranz, Joe Gardner and Alex White, and first baseman Matt McBride, sources told ESPN.com.

Jimenez was pulled Saturday night from his start after pitching one inning against the San Diego Padres.

Jimemez says he was surprised. "Everybody knew it, even me," he said after his outing.

Jimenez, who allowed four runs on two hits with four walks and two strikeouts, said he was surprised he even pitched in the game.

Pomeranz can't be officially traded until Aug. 15 because he was drafted last June.

Pomeranz and McBride were scratched from the lineup of their game Saturday for Double-A Akron. White also was told by the Indians he would not start for Akron on Sunday.

The Reds and Rockies had been talking about a trade that is believed to center around Reds pitchers Homer Bailey and Travis Wood, plus two position-player prospects. And one executive told ESPN.com the Red Sox had discussed an expanded deal with Colorado that could send both Jimenez and outfielder Seth Smith to Boston.

Earlier Saturday, the Yankees and Rockies also swapped proposals. However, several reports say New York is balking at Colorado's request for some combination of Ivan Nova, Jesus Montero and Dellin Betances to be included in any deal. An executive of one club said he was told Phil Hughes' name also was discussed by the two teams at one point Saturday, but Colorado doesn't appear to have any interest in making Hughes part of this trade.

Reports in New York suggested the Rockies had dropped the price on Jimenez slightly Saturday in an attempt to accelerate talks with the Yankees. But an executive of another club speaking with the Rockies laughed at that suggestion, saying: "If they (the Yankees) think the price is lowering, that's their interpretation. They're the only ones who seem to think that."
