Has anyone else noticed how hot JD Martinez has been?

Since his call up he's only played 10 games and already has 4 HR, 12 RBI and is batting .306, .722 SLG. He killed it in the minors and hasn't stopped after the promotion. He's definitely impressing me alot more than the other recent call-ups such as Goldschmidt + Robinson.

This dude just looks like a major league all star. He's been awesome so far. Unfortunately for all the people holding his cards there has been little movement, because of the silly card market.

We've been all over the guy.

Ever since he was drafted he has done nothing but hit, hit, hit. Not so sure about the power, could see maybe 20 homers a year, but not much more. He never displayed a ton of power in the minors, but hitting in the Astros ballpark will definitely help.

Looks like he will be a large part of the Astros future with Paredes, Altuve, Norris, Lyles and eventually Folty, DeShields, Jr and (hopefully) Castro.

what do you all see as a blue-sky ceiling for him? Todd Helton? George Brett?

I think his ceiling is a line of around .320/25/100, although hitting in the middle of the lineup for the Astros these days may only get him about 65 RBI for the same production.

A more likely line for him is probably .285-.310 with 15-20 homers, which is still pretty impressive.

He is striking out at an uncharacteristically higher rate than he did in the Minors, but remember he just jumped from AA straight to the Majors a few days ago. It's hard to translate statistics from Minors to Majors when you don't have a Triple-A sample to take into consideration.

He has the ceiling of Bryce Harper with better tools, but the floor of Justin Upton with better tools.

Knowing Anthony, I have to assume his post was in jest. Puff puff pass pass.

Yeah I missed the sarcasm because there wasn't anything to actually denote he wasn't serious, besides the fact that I'd think 9 out of 10 people on this site would never put Justin Upton and JD Martinez in the same sentence.

I believe the statement in itself was fairly clear in its sarcastic nature...
