Not all prospectors do. You're talking to one of them.

However, it's not in dispute that BA's staff's opinions carry weight when it comes to card values.

Yet you start the "BA Hotlist is live!" thread every Friday and the "I got my advance copy of the BA Prospect Handbook a week early!" every February.

If you believe those two examples you cited equate to me "worshipping" BA's collective boots you'd be mistaken.

Find me other companies that put out weekly Hot Sheets and periodicals and I'll post about them as well.

Anyone that trys to predict or project baseball prospects will always be less than 100% accurate.

+100

And anyone that has been successful prospecting does NOT depend on Baseball America to always be right. Judging baseball talent is like going to the casino, you sure as hell aren't going to be right/win all of the time.

Ahh, my bad.

It must be a different JP who's asked Callis 37047 prospect questions on twitter

Guess so. Exaggerate much? If the occasional question to him offends you so much, I can fix that pretty easily. And for the record, I've asked just as many questions to guys like KLaw, but they almost never get a response.

Seriously, why do you prospectors blindly follow a book that's horribly wrong a good portion of the time?

Seriously, why do you have cards of Dan McGwire in your sig?

Seriously, why DON'T you have Dan McGwire cards in your sig?

By the way, thanks for putting Sig Starts Here in your sig. I usually overlook the default line separating signature from post and get highly confused

If you don't like BA and don't like J.P. asking questions, why bother going to the chats? You're not very smart are you?

12 players out of 960 potential top-30 spots per team is not what I would call a good portion of the time.

I think very few prospectors follow BA exclusively. It's more of a combo of guts, eaves dropping, and any number of online sources.

I use Baseball America for what its purpose is for: Bathroom reading

About the only thing they do well is pre-draft coverage and that is sometimes lacking.

Seriously, this is their pattern of reporting to you now:

A. Go to a game in Durham
B. Find a scout they know from the past and sit by him
C. Ask him questions during the game about players ( the same players they are watching )
D. Write what the scout said

or

Call a scout about a player in the Northwest

Some of you if you took the time to get off the laptop and go to some minor league games would be more interesting to read.
