It would be nice to see Grienke get to 20 wins and get the Era down to 2.50ish. Goldy is just being Goldy. After that blah start he's been very good. I really hope this year doesn't go to waste.

You gotta be kidding me. D-Backs were up 6-1. Then the sixth inning happened and now it's a 6-5 score with no outs.

This may be Greinke's worst game of the season.

On the bright side, Paul Goldschmidt absolutely killed a couple of balls deep into the stands, in fact one of them literally left the ballpark. He's 2-for-3 with 2 HR & 5 RBI so far. Responsible for nearly all the D-Backs runs.

Goldy - .318 avg 24 HR 84 RBI 1.019 OPS 15 SB

His NL ranks (traditional + advanced)

5.2 bWAR - 1st
105 RC - 1st
.795 OWP - 1st
5.1 fWAR - 2nd
85 RBI - 2nd
86 Runs - 2nd
1.030 OPS - 2nd
.440 OBP - 2nd
75 Walks - 2nd
.427 wOBA - 2nd
159 wRC+ 3rd
157 OPS+ 3rd
15 SB - 4th
.591 slg% - 5th
225 Total Bases - 6th
.320 avg - 7th
25 HR - 7th

There isn't a stat out there in which he isn't top 10. He's the complete package.

The D-Backs have a lot of talent but he is putting more valuableness...valuability...he is more valuable than any other MVP candidate for my money. Maybe he isn't the most outstanding but after all it's the MVP not the MOP.

Last night was another victory which can pretty much be attributed to Paul Goldschmidt, at least offensively (Banda deserves much of the credit too). He went 3-for-4 with a triple, driving in the only 2 runs of the game. Two of his hits could have been home runs in many ballparks (certainly Wrigley Field).

His stats as of now: .325/.443/.597 25 HR 87 RBI 1.040 OPS 15 SB 5.5 WAR

2017 League Ranks:
• 1st in NL in OPS (1.040)
• 1st in NL in OBP (.443)
• 1st in NL in WAR (5.5)
• 2nd in NL in RBI (87)
• 2nd in NL in R (86)
• 2nd in NL in BB (75)
• 2nd in NL in wRC+ (161)
• 4th in NL in SB (15)
• 6th in NL in SLG (.597)
• 6th in NL in BA (.325)
• 7th in NL in HR (25)

Goldschmidt is good at baseball

Let's play my favorite game the "what if" game. What if all the top tier players keep their current stat pace and the teams in the NL that are in line for a playoff spot make it, who do you think wins the MVP...not who do you want or who you think should but who do you think wins the award?

I believe it would come down to Goldschmidt or Harper.

Arenado, Blackmon & Seager would also be among my top 5 finalists.

It's really tough to answer your question for the following reason: Both the traditional stats & advanced metrics between Goldy & Harper are nearly identical. The main difference is that Harper has a higher HR total while Goldy has more stolen bases & slightly superior defense (based on metrics that deduct or add a premium based on positions in order to compare) and because I'm biased I know I'm going to lean Goldschmidt's way (he's one of my two favorite players & plays for one of the two teams I cheer for). I feel most would answer with Harper because he's a young superstar on a large market team who is very often in the spotlight.

But again, I also feel a case could be made for Arenado, Blackmon & Seager.

I really hope we pull off a playoff birth. Such a crappy year last year, I'll take this to get over it. Also wish I pulled my wallet out if my ass multiple times the last 5 years on Goldy.

I'd think Harper is definitely still in the mix, but Goldy is probably the frontrunner....been en fuego the past couple weeks.

I could watch this all day. Awesome.
