Really dissapointed in how this team is flopping the last 40-50 games. Not sure they deserve a spot if they can even hold on. It's like the first 80 games didn't exist IMO.

D-Backs have been playing better than they were last week. 6-4 in their last 10 games but still, they've been facing easier teams.

Patrick Corbin has been killing it! Only 1 earned run in his last 30.1 IP. Back on August 1st he had a 4.77 ERA. As of today he's sporting a 3.91 ERA. He has strung together 5 straight quality starts, going at least 7+ IP in his last 3 games. If you look past his WHIP, his season numbers don't look bad at all. Above average I'd say.

3.91 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 3.68 xFIP, 1.41 WHIP
159 IP 154 K/44 BB 8.7 K/9 3.5 K/BB *2.5 fWAR *2.4 bWAR

*His WAR before today's game. Tomorrow it will probably be only one or two points below 3.0, for both reference & fangraphs since his ERA & FIP were considerably lowered at a hitters ballpark.

Another tidbit, he ranks just outside the top 10 in xFIP, IP & strikeouts (11th for all 3)

One more look at the stats & ranks of our team's humble MVP candidate

.316 avg 31 HR 104 RBI 1.020 OPS 17 SB 6.0 WAR

NL ranks
.316 avg - 5th
31 HR - 4th
104 RBI - 3rd
96 Runs - 3rd
84 Walks - 3rd
.427 OBP - 2nd
.594 slg% - 5th
1.020 OPS - 5th
17 SB - 7th
64 XBH - 5th
276 Total Bases - 4th
6.0 WAR - 3rd

Goldy has a lot of strong competition this year for the NL MVP award.

At the moment I feel the top 5 players with the strongest case for MVP are (in no particular order) - Goldschmidt, Blackmon, Harper, Stanton, Arenado
Dark horse candidates who could still make a run for it before the season is over - Seager, Rendon, Rizzo, Bryant, Scherzer, Ozuna, D. Murphy, J. Turner

I'm so glad that they pulled their heads out... The last 40 games prior to these 10 were no bueno.

With that 2 run HR by ******* that brought Goldy home he has set another D-Backs franchise record. Goldy is their only player to score 100+ runs in 4 season.

As for the game...7-1 DBacks in the 4th. Looking to sweep the Dodgers

Yeah, I thought they were going to revert back to their 2016 form for the remainder of the season.

I'm hoping they can continue to rake because they really need that first Wild Card spot. They are a MUCH better team at home.

Another fantastic outing by Greinke tonight - 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K
His 15 wins lead the league already but barring a massive collapse by the bullpen he's on the line for his 16th

2017 Stats: 15-6, 3.08 ERA/3.13 FIP/3.24 xFIP, 172.2 IP 188 K/39 BB, 1.07 WHIP

He ranks top 5 in the league with all those aforementioned stats. He has pitched like a legit ace this year, a big turnaround from his 2016 season.

Loving it right now. Rays back, Pollacks back, Martinez was a big addition and Goldy and Grienke are doing their thing. A few guys down w injuries I'd like for depth but that happens. The bullpen is biggest worry.
