Talk is they want to use Liriano out of the pen as a power lefty or starter if Sanchez is sent to the pen which i just don't get...leading the AL in ERA and having a CY like season. Bull**** if it happens ::facepalm::

On top of that, Liriano is drop dead awful. Reese McGuire is a nice addition.

Because he's young and they want to baby him, nevermind that he can't pitch with runners on in relief role.

It is called being cautious. It is his first full season as a starter and he is already at 139IP. The most he had as a starter was ~100ip. Another couple starts should put him around 150-155. He might get a start or two before the playoffs, you can be sure he starts in the postseason and WS.
I don't think it's worth pushing him another 40-50ip and risk having his arm fall off.
