Breaking a bat

I just saw Kemp strikeout and almost bring his bat to his knee. He restrained himself, but it got me thinking. How hard is it to break a bat over your knee? After looking at my auto bats here at home, they look pretty solid, so i would have to imagine it would hurt like heck to try. Has anyone here done it?

I tried once. Broke my leg but then realized after, Pros don't use metal bats.

If it were a MLB quality-made bat I wouldn't consider trying to break it on my knee unless it already had a crack. Doing otherwise would be 1) a waste of a good bat, and 2) a guaranteed bruise.

There are a few MLB players doing it on Youtube. I remember the Bo Jackson one over his helmet. Not sure if it was already cracked.

Strong younger guys, hitting the thinnest parts of the bats against hard muscular thighs and it probably is not as hard as it may appear. I am guessing it probably still doesn't feel great and they may regret it after the anger and frustration of the moment passes. An older, weaker, softer guy who is not fueled with anger and adrenaline like Mitch Williams trying it in that video above though, probably not a great idea.
