What is the earliest a team have been eliminated.

I was looking at the standings and on 8-27 the Houston Astros were eliminated from the wild card. That to me is astonishingly horrible. The Miami Marlins were eliminated today.

In 1899, the Cleveland Spiders were 20 and 134 on the season. That [FONT=arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif]would probably be the earliest eliminated team in history they finish 84 games behind the pennant winner and something like 35 games behind the second worst team in the league.

In modern times didnt the 2004 Tigers go like 44-118 or something?[/FONT]

Looks like they were eliminated from the WC on 8/19/03 and the Central on 8/22/03.

The truth hurts. All teams that Cubs fans root for to win lose. Trust me I know. So I will now be rooting for the Cards. Sorry they do not have a chance this year or next. Truth be told I have been rooting for the Yankees for the last 4 years.

Well that's blatantly false, it's mathematically impossible to be Eliminated in Spring Training.

That 2003 Tigers team was so bad...I remember being in High School and just laughing at the lack of stats and wins.

I just remember 2005 when they were at 15-30. Everybody thought of them as done. Then they went to the Series to get the crap kicked out of them by the White Sox. Thats the best they ever got.
