Interesting tidbit.

The 1st round consisted of 17 HS/17 Collegiate players, as well as 17 pitchers/17 hitters.

#Brewers get tremendous value in Corbin Burnes. 92-96, improving breaking ball and can evolve as starter. Great pick

Don't have the time to check it myself but have all these guys been taken yet? Or are there still some left whom are ripe for the picking?

6 of the first 8 players drafted by the Braves have been pitchers....sigh.
Red Sox are drafting a lot of pitchers...I'm loving it. I hope they draft more! Please with their picks so far, I can understand drafting some higher floor "safer" guys to save some money for Groome. Whatever they need to do to sign him, I say go for it.

Signing Groome would be huge for the Red Sox.

I think the Braves have drafted some very talented pitchers with big potential and I'd be all for it if the vast majority of the Braves top prospects weren't pitchers and if our major league team wasn't close to being dead last in just about every offensive category. The Sox lead the league in just about every offensive category (avg, OBP, slg%, runs scored, hits) while struggling a bit with their pitching (20th in team ERA) and their farm system is enriched with very good position players so it makes total sense for them to be going after pitchers.

I understand our GM's thinking, as he has always said that frontline pitchers are overvalued and believe teams will trade for more than their worth (example: Shelby Miller) so the idea for the next couple years is to load up on pitching and then trade them for decent position players. Problem is, they first have to become frontline starters at the major league level in order to make such trades as I believe teams might perceive it too risky to trade for a teenage pitcher who only has the potential to some day reach the status of frontline pitcher.
