I posted this on the Griffey Thread and I thought I would start a quick thread just to get some feedback on these cards.

"while I can really appreciate the 98 crusades, I think they really are great looking cards, at least from what I see on ebay as I have never seen one in person but I am SO lost as to why those cards demand so much monetarily.... Can someone shed some light for me. Not trying to be dense but i really am curious. "

The Griffey Crusade red /25 Just sold for 4K and I have seen more than one person post on different threads that they want it and are willing to pay at least this much if not more for this card. And all of them really sell for HUGE premiums.

So my question is why SO much?

People gave the hype and from that time they have become a legend, they have been hoarded too so thats another reason for them been so expensive,im like you, they are pretty but they are not in my top 5 cards to chase after!

It's a rare and awesome looking card. I have an Ortiz BGS 9.5 and it's one of my favorite cards I own.

I paid $150,000 for my three Gwynns. Gladly would have paid three or four times that. Best investment ever. Sold my house in Malibu to purchase these beauties:

I know I'd like the Clark , but as of now I can't see me paying much over $500 for one.

LOL. Nice. I just asked my wife if we can sell her engagement ring so I could buy one. She didn't find it funny

Yes they are awesome looking, I am not disputing that, only the price tag on these things that I am curious about. Although the hoarding part that GameJersey mentioned makes sense.

To the OP, they look better in person than they do in scans. They have a real "depth" to the refractor effect that manufacturers just don't seem to make anymore. I think the look is pretty unique.

How long ago did you buy them? If you don't mind me asking.

got my green prolly early 2000, purple maybe a few years after 2005ish? and red Sep 29 2007

You are bidding on a rare 1998 Donruss Crusade Red Ken Griffey Jr. Numbered Parallel Card. The card is individually numbered 22 out of 25 on the back. It is card #39 out of the 100 player set and features a red and yellow refractor like front to the card. Donruss made 3 different types of Crusade Inserts back in 1998: the normal green, the purple, and the impossible to find red. Beckett Magazine has a $N/A book value for the card because it is too scarce to price. I have never seen one of these listed on eBay since I’ve been a member. These cards are VERY SCARCE and impossible to find now since they are either locked up in personal collections or still sitting in boxes that will never be opened. These cards are at the top of most player collectors want lists and while its #D to 25 the cards turn up as often as cards #D to 1/1. The card pictures Ken Griffey Jr on the Seattle Mariners. The card is in mint condition Any lines are on the scanner and are NOT on the card. Card will be shipped in a penny sleeve and a top loader inside a team bag and will be mailed in a bubble mailer. Card comes from a smoke free home and a pet free home. If you have any questions please ask before the auction ends. Shipping and handling is $3.00 for a bubble mailer. Insurance is extra and optional. I only accept US money orders as payment.

I remember that Day like it was Yesterday..................

Looks like that Red in 2007 was a good investment with the recent insanity. Boy. I feel like I missed the boat on those crusades. It is amazing how hind sight is 20/20 :).

As for the description of the auction you won. That is awesome. I agree there are those moments when we get cards that we have dreamed of that really stick in our memory.. I have a few myself.

Gotta love some Griffey's. I must say I appreciate your collection. That is what I call a treasure trove.... AKA "a hidden store of valuable or delightful things." Those Griffey's truly are delightful ... LOL Wish I had a few more in my collection

Like someone mentioned earlier. They look way better in person. Scans or pictures do not do justice.

I'd love to add Nomo to my PC but those go for quite a bit. Not as much as the Griffeys though.
