McCann to the 'Stros

I dont like this trade at all. McCann was a great backup catcher, a backup 1st baseman, a dh, and a lefty bat. Not to mention a great guy/mentor/clubhouse presence. Why give all that up? And pay 5.5 million on top of that?

Of the potential catcher pickups out there, this was the best the Astros could have done. I think it was definitely an Astros-favoring trade but you never know how prospects turn out. Now to get some more pitching. At this point all they have done is replace Fister. Hitting was not the Astros only struggle last year.

As a Yankees fan, I have mixed emotions about this. With all the young talent on the Yanks, having a guy like McCann around is valuable to teach the young guys how to play the game the right way. That said, it was gonna be tough to find McCann ab's next year. Wish him well. Class act.
