Nice website but when I checked my Derek Bell Sample pictured above they didn't know it existed. I think Clarkfan has a Ryne Sandberg from this set also.

I cut this from there 97 Sample description sectionPromos

These cards were issued to Hobby dealers and the Hobby media to preview the 1997 Select set. These cards have "SAMPLE" written on the front to differentiate them from the regular cards. It is unclear exactly how many sample cards were made; the list below shows only those known to exist.
1 Juan Gonzalez
3 Tony Gwynn
8 Frank Thomas
15 Paul Molitor
23 Greg Maddux
47 Ken Griffey, Jr.
50 Rickey Henderson
53 Alex Rodriguez
71 Cal Ripken, Jr.
107 Danny Patterson
124 J.J. Johnson
121 Bobby Henley (Select Company)

Paul

There is a Canseco in this as well which you don't have listed.. I missed it on auction but know who has it and there is a scan of it on his website.

Yeah, that list is completely flawed. First of all, the 1997 Select Samples and the 1997 Select Company Samples are 2 completely different promo sets. The regular 1997 Select Samples are common and come with the same set of players, mostly big names (Thomas, Maddux, Ripken, Arod, among others). The Select Company samples have a much larger set, were released 1 at a time rather than set form, and that list above is missing a bunch of names, including a few big names (Griffey checklist, Thomas checklist, Wade Boggs, Will Clark)

Several more including the first ud fb & bkb cards & an aaron sele I somehow didn't know was made.
And of course, a griffey promo.

And a very rare un marked cal promo (different number)

But my favorite is this 1957 quaker sample card!
All the searching I've done, including all the psa registries (yes theres 4 collectors doing this set), web search etc, I can't find any info on this card.

The registry states theres only one sample card, but not this one.

I'm assuming the Biggios say sample on the back? Or is it like the 95 Leaf where you need to look for placement of certain foil or markings?

Few notes regarding the above.

Those salmon promos are actually two different variations (photo cropping).

Maybe it's common knowledge, but I never knew each 1998 topps stars promo came in silver and bronze.

Incoming is a Ronnie belliard select company sample and griffey leaf preferred SILVER Steele sample.

Also note that those "hit it here" cards are belle and Thomas.

I've been watching for years to find another example of this Score promo. Today my ebay search found this one for sale but if you read his description you will see the card he has pictured is not a promo. Am I missing something here? You can the the photo's in the original post by DaClyde that his card is not the promo. I still have my copy of the promo and I am still looking for another player or other cards to show up.

The only difference I see is the cropping in the photo. Yours on the left, the regular issue is on the right. Or yours top, regular on the bottom (depending on how the system arranges them).

Maybe just an accidental mislisted card on the part of the seller. Looks like the same seller already sold one, and it actually looks like the promo to me in his first (completed & sold) listing:
