Sweet, thanks man! Going to see if anyone is interested in a starter Ripken collection. I have close to 2,000 extra Ripkens that are mostly base cards. Tons of duplicates, so maybe 300-400 different.

Also, any tips on successful transactions? I was just thinking of using Paypal. Is it safe to use "send friends" money or should I use "goods"?

Always use goods it is much safer and you have some recourse if a deal goes bad. Friends and family doesn't.

The only time you'll want to use friends and family is if you're friends with the person in real life.

For those of you who don't know and you collect things like this, there are two versions that I now have of the:

1999 Pinheads
attachment.php

I did not know there is a Gold and Silver versions until I got one today.

Do you think it's possible that the silver one is a faded gold? I have one in the original package and it looks gold in color. It doesn't mention gold/silver editions.

^^^ Def would think that both variation colors and variation packaging exist. Though I'm not a Cal collector, I love this oddball type stuff. ;)

The gold one came like this.

attachment.php

and the silver came in loose. Just wrapped in bubble wrap.

Wow ok, so there is at least two different versions of packaging that we know of now :). I guess that would mean it's possible for there to be a silver version. It's not the first time there were variants of something that went unmentioned.

Just received only my second 1/1 Cal Ripken card. My first was a 2006 Topps Sterling Moments Relics Prime 3000 #CRHIT19 that I bought a couple of years ago. At the time, I thought it was awesome. But this one absolutely destroys it: 2008 Topps Sterling Stardom Relics Autographs Quad Sterling Silver #4SSA144 !!!!! Just straight up beastly! Weird how both are from Topps Sterling. Just the way the cookies crumbled. Anyone else have any Ripken 1/1's?

Holy crap, 55? There's 100 of them so you got half the set! That's where they all went lol. Do you know there are over 800 different cards just in 2007 spx? Unreal. That is a nice monikers 1/1, grats!

The problem withe the 2007 Platinum 1/1is that they are not true 1/1s. Each card number has each game as a 1/1 so there are really 26,320 1/1s... Which is stupid and pointless

Yup! UD forgot to turn off the press on 2007 SPx. The numbers you put out (26,320) includes the 1/1 autographs (I think) but still waaaaayyyyy too much 1/1 for one product for one year. More I/1 for all the years combined of any player. I have not added one SPx to my PC for at least 4 years now. Although I see them listed once in a while, I lost interest to complete this set.

Yeah that is ridiculous. It's not got much better. Panini is a big offender too. /1, /5, /10, /15, /25...All the same exact card with a slight difference. I lose interest in chasing the same card just because the /10 is pink.

I would once in a while and IF the price is right.

Nice Pop Century rainbow collection! Sure if the price is right. But the industry is getting out of hand again flooding the market with 1/1's like it did with the inserts/parallels boom in the 90's. They're totally watering down 1/1's in my opinion, and they're just not rare anymore. The companies are just slapping 1/1 on everything now. Check out Ripken's list of 1/1's from Beckett, it's insane! You can totally see they took advantage of his retirement leading up to his HOF selection. It then drops off considerably for a couple of years, and now it's raging back. At this pace, about 30% of Ripken's cards are not obtainable. And of course this isn't even all of his 1/1's. There's plenty more that aren't even serial numbered or Beckett lists one time because there are hundreds of different versions like 2007 Spx.

YEAR #CARDS #1/1s 1/1%
2000 617 26 4%
2001 645 12 2%
2002 304 6 2%
2003 339 25 7%
2004 1150 288 25%
2005 2137 398 19%
2006 891 447 50%
2007 2435 1174 48%
2008 490 77 16%

2011 267 87 33%
2012 468 114 24%
2013 426 147 35%
2014 588 174 30%
