Nice patch cards. There will also be redemptions for jerseys from 2009 WBC! But price point is a bit high for such small patch pieces. UD did the WBC cards right back in 2006 SPX (I think that was the product).

Why couldn't this just be a part of Tribute?

I don't know about you but I'd be pretty pissed if I paid big bucks for a pack of Topps Tribute and pulled an autograph of some guy from Taiwan or the Netherlands that nobody has ever heard of and who will never play in the majors. Putting these in Tribute would heavily water it down and damage the product.

I guarantee you the autos from Japan and Taipei will sell for more than the American autos.

Yeah if you look at the bottom of the sell sheet it only mentions licensing by the WBC, no MLB license. So it looks like Topps Paninied the Ripken card.

Slightly confused as to how Taillon wound up on the Canadian roster.
Thought he was a Texas HS pitcher?

...but I'm very happy he's in this release!

Oh you know, maybe because he's a Canadian? Just a thought

The WBC is hugely popular outside the US. This seems like a great opportunity to create a product that gets the world collecting baseball cards. But wouldn't a low end release (say a WBC release designed something along the lines of base Topps) be more suitable if that is the goal?

1. Why is Ripken IN this set?

2. I like it. Not paying the MLBPA their licensing fee. Smart.

3. No MAthieson, no Gillies - I'm out.

4. If RA Dickey is your cover boy for a product, it's bound to do wonders.
