Is that just a random list of some of the top 200-hit club members?
Because Charlie Gehringer is not there and he had seven 200-hit seasons.

It looks like Garvey only had a career .329 OBP so he definitely liked to hack rather than take walks.

Because Charlie Gehringer is not there and he had six 200-hit seasons.

Yes, there are roughly twice as many, but I picked the 10 players that people are most familiar with.

I looked, so I can't guess, but I just realized that Ted Williams never had a 200-hit season despite six batting titles and a .344 career average. It's because he walked so much (led 8 times in walks).
It's just weird that Ted Williams never did it but Juan Pierre has done it four times.

It's just weird that Ted Williams never did it but Juan Pierre has done it four times.

....as you noted his walks were the main reason- also only played 154 game seasons.

Garvey went for more HRs the year he and his 3 teammates each hit 30+ and his hit total and BA slipped below 200/.300 for the first time in three years
