cjedmonton - Hey Chris, here is the Game 1 breakdown I did for myself and my opponent aarne13. Could you or anyone else double check that I did this correct? If so I will continue on with games 2-5 :) This is pretty neat and fun! EDIT: I edited the Home Team (fantasy) not realizing that that goes off of the game schedule for us as members if that was correct.

Game 1: Metallicalex777 9,12,14 vs. aarne13 7,13,24

Metallicalex777: total score of 7 (I have the Phillies, 1916, and May 4)

Scoring Differential = -2 (Dodgers won 2-0)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 1 (1 for McQuillan, 0 for Rixey)
Complete Game: 5 points = 0
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 3
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 5 (metallicalex777 at home)
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1 point each = 0
Real Life Team Losing Streak: -1 point each = -1
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: = -1

aarne13: total score of 12 (aarne13 has the Pirates, 1925, and June 17)
Scoring Differential = 3 (Pirates won 8-5)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 3 (2 for Meadows)
Complete Game: 5 points = 5
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 0 (metallicalex777 at home)
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1 point each = 5
Real Life Team Losing Streak: -1 point each = 0
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: = -4

Totals: Metallicalex777 with 7 points loses to aarne13 with 12 points

I think Pittsburgh was 7GB on May 17th- that would put me at +9.

Great catch, indeed. Thanks, aarne13!

To the others, this is the perfect template to present a matchup. Thanks again metallicalex777

I expect many close games....and a few blowouts along the way too. Check out the score posted by robertwolf1

Since Alex's C number should have been 6, his score is actually 2.

He still gets the win (thanks to being the home team), but it was much closer than before:

Alexs64: total score of 2 (Alex has the Orioles, 1992, and April 12)
Scoring Differential = -2 (Blue Jays won 3-1)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 6
Complete Game: 5 points = 0
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 5 (Alex is home team)
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1 point each = 0
Real Life Team Losing Streak: -1 point each = -3
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: = -4 (4 games behind the Blue Jays)

too bad it doesn't count....that was based on his team (pittsburgh) giving him a 1912 season so he dropped down to the next TEAM (yankees).....

i'm still mad at you over that half-point loss since the reds staff in my game didn't even have the ability to strike out dan uggla , rob deer , chris davis , pete incaviglia , or mark reynolds

Hi,

To answer some questions:

Going forward, it's inevitable that every ABC number will exceed it's limit. When this happens, you're exactly right....just start back at the top from 1.

For A, this means any number higher than 30 (the total number of current franchises)
For B, this means the total number of years franchise A has been in existence. Please keep the pre-1915 boxscore rule in mind for older franchises.
For C, this means 154 for pre-expansion seasons (1915-1960), and 162 for every year since.

a little more clarification then ....

A - will count as 28 , 29 , 30 , 1 , 2 .....

B - hypothetical situation : we're up to a number higher than the total number of seasons for our team (almost a guarantee when we get arizona , tampa , colorado , or florida and also a real possibility for the blue jays , mariners , royals , astros , mets, angels , etc)....in such a case would we simply take their worst (highest numbered) ranked season ?

C - counting by 5 , when we get to the end and need to "flip" the schedule....would we assume counting would go 158 , 159 , 160 , 161 , 162 , 1 , 2 , 3 , .... (or 153 , 154 , 1 , 2 , 3 , if our season was during the shorter seasons) ? or would any number beyond the seson limit mean we automatically use game 1 after "flipping" the counter ?

No worries 10 isn't bad either!

1976 Bucs on May 15th.

Scoring Differential (runs scored - runs allowed): 2 (Beat Dodgers 4-2)
Strikeouts: 1
Complete Game: 0
2-3 Pitchers used: 3
HOF Pitcher Start: 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 0
Home Team: 5
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1
Real Life Team Losing Streak: 0
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: -2

This gives you a score of 10.

Right you are. I addressed this in the original thread. His score is actually 10, using the 1976 Pirates on May 15th.

I'd like to say I'm sorry for squeaking out a 1/2 point "win", but I'll take it! Good luck the rest of the way, and I really appreciate the interest/involvement you've shown!

As for your clarifications:

------

a little more clarification then ....

A - will count as 28 , 29 , 30 , 1 , 2 ..... Correct

No, you would continue counting from the top of their respective list until you get to 3 higher than the previous game.

C - counting by 5 , when we get to the end and need to "flip" the schedule....would we assume counting would go 158 , 159 , 160 , 161 , 162 , 1 , 2 , 3 , .... (or 153 , 154 , 1 , 2 , 3 , if our season was during the shorter seasons) ? or would any number beyond the season limit mean we automatically use game 1 after "flipping" the counter ?

Your first assumption is correct. Simply count by ones until the end of the season, and continue counting at the top of the list until you get to 5 higher than the previous (just like you outlined).

Outstanding work. You can take off the rest of the week!

Everything looks really good, except for a minor issue with HOF scoring for games 3 and 5.

Please remember that you cannot stack starts and wins for a single HOFer. In both cases Pete Alexander got the start and win, which is good for 10 points. The 5 points for his starts are void since you only count the highest valued category.

Unfortunately for you, it does not change the outcome of either game.

You end the first week with a 2-3 record. Look forward to seeing how the rest of the league stacks up.

Again, great work. I always appreciate your participation. Seems like folks are getting the hang of this pretty quickly.

PS: Posting the entire week in a single post works great for me, but I'll accept multiple posts since I don't know how many will have the time to knock out an entire week in one sitting.

Outstanding and thanks for the reminder/tip on the HOF scenarios (and the kudos, although all kudos is kindly to you!). Pete Alexander pitched against "me" twice so I knew I was in trouble the second time I saw him with gojacks63 :) I've gone back and edited both games 3 and 5 as well as the recap at the top. Now to wait for games 6-10 haha!

Is someone checking each game? I know two of us will do each game, but I feel the pressure to get it all right. Scoring these can be a little tedious, but fun none the less.

I will spot check on a regular basis, but it isn't feasible to check every game. If an error slips through on the odd occasion, we'll have to live with it.....sort of a like a botched call at the plate against our favorite team!

I agree it would be a little tedious to do all 5 games at once. I appreciate the effort a lot, but I want this to be fun. There's no pressure at all to do the entire week in one sitting. After a few games, this should only take 5 minutes per game (less than half an hour per week).

Thanks again....I will get caught up on the scoreboard/standings in the next day or so, with another update and last call for scores over the weekend.
