Some of you may remember the hoopla over the Ripken a couple of years ago, here:
Weird Pack Break - 1993 Baseball Aces Playing Cards - Odd/Amazing Hit? - Blowout Cards Forums

and here:
Once in a lifetime find? - Blowout Cards Forums

and mentioned here:

also ran across this post made before the craziness:

Well, I'm holding onto a Maddux and was looking for ways to differentiate them and stumbled across this:

Saw roll after roll of them printed...

Hello all,

I used to work for a company that filled vending machines at the US Playing card plant in Norwood (a city surrounded by the city of Cincinnati,OH) and remember seeing huge rolls of those cards printed sitting waiting for the slitter machine. I asked one of the workers if he could get me some and he said those were considered gold and they had to destroy any miscuts and over runs. He also said they had to be treated like casino cards as well. Now that Im thinking about it, I remember him saying something about special print runs of special cards and the company had a big celebration to launch the product.

Also, the vending company I worked for did a special promotion that used some of those cards within the packaging to help sell snacks.

I have a Maddux also. What does yours look like? I'm taking it to a show this weekend to get it authenticated.

This link have my exact card's picture. He called mine fake (maybe in the sense that it wasn't pack pulled), but PSA says authentic autograph. I paid $63 for it way back when and knowing what I know now, I clearly overpaid...

I also noticed this on ebay. Notice the differences between the regular playing card and the autographed one. Maddux's head is closer to the "K" on the autographed one. Mine is the same way. 1993 US Playing Cards Aces Auto Greg Maddux First Certified Auto NO Ripken | eBay

I just bought card #1 in the auction, it would be funny if that was the one I sold years ago...

Many thanks to MagicPapa for digging up the old thread and posting the auction. Today I revisited FCB in at least 3-4 months or longer... If I had visited 2 days ago I could have bought the card for $175... lol.

Was that Maddux legit? I was watching the auction and thought about bidding but felt I did not know enough about the set.

Pretty positive that it was. Looked exactly like mine. Mine is at PSA getting authenticated. How much do you think something like that would be worth?

I have no clue, just know they are really hard to find and there's a dearth of nice Maddux cards.

Authentic autograph - but definitely not the one issued in packs. The Ripken sig you have is a modern one.

Saw this older thread and just wanted to post that I recently found the McGriff autograph insert from this year. First one I have seen in all the years I have been collecting McGriff.
