Both the Pre-Prod and the Superstar Samplers are regularly available on ebay. The best way to get the SS is via sealed factory sets. This one here just closed for $23 with shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Topps-...033644?hash=item4d3e8ee3ec:g:JP4AAOSwL7VWpRDX

I meant to throw in a bid but got distracted. Statistically, once you factor in a ~$5 sale price for the rest of the set, just buying the set for the SS 3 card pack can become a viable business proposition with the ~10 players that can sell for big money, about 15 players where you will at least break even or end up making $10, and then the rest of the sets are bums and you will probably lose $10. On enough random chances I think this model will pay.

The pre-production sets tend to sell for significantly less than the SS sets as their sale price is not even close. And like someone else on here said, the checklist for the Pre-Prods is...um...lacking in superstars. Hell, there are TONS of the pre-prods available on sportlots (including 8 Trammells and 1 Ozzie), below is a c/p:

Maybe I am too old school, but I am the only one who finds most of these inserts repulsive? I can't stand the fake backgrounds, all the lasery stuff going on. I guess I prefer a players to be pictured on the field or at bat.

So last night I was cleaning out my watch lists and noticed something in my saved checkout cart. I'm guessing I didn't have the funds when the card was listed and forgot about it. I overpaid, but this officially puts me into single digits...336/345 I believe.

It's the Club edition. Deceptively difficult to find.

Congrats. You can't really appreciate the difficulty of collecting the semi-star until you've done it. So much stuff just goes unlisted since sellers believe there's a lack of interest.

But on the positive side it's much cheaper to get than others. I would have to sell my soul for some of the cards I want.

Thanks for the heads up AUTaxMan! I just picked up the 1997 Pinnacle Certified Mirror Gold Chipper Jones that has always been out of my price range for me. I can tell it has a print line in the scan but at that price I couldn't pass it up.

So appearantly the 1999 Finest unnumbered gold refractors are also NOT die cut. The listing kinda mentions no die cut but it was not clear to me until today. 5-4-3-2-1 until some relist their cards as "Executive Proofs."

Same here. Mine's got a couple of lines but I'll take it for the price.

Try collecting some of the no-namers. They are really hard to track down. Especially older oddballs. I'd rather collect a bigger name player. At least I'd have a fighting chance.

Hi everyone. I joined the forum today after lurking for many years. This is BY FAR my favorite thread on any forum. I have to say, the commitment, passion, and knowledge of those sharing their cards here is so cool. I learn something new all the time here.

I primarily collect Ryne Sandberg cards, and tough 90's inserts and parallels are among my favorite items of his to chase. Here are some of my favorites. Thanks!
