Hello everyone! I'd like to introduce myself to all you wonderful folks here at FCB. I'm a longtime reader but new poster. Growing up there was nothing more important in my childhood then collecting baseball cards. It was my life. All I cared about. I'd save up my allowance for months to go buy the newest box of Leaf or Donruss. I was an 80's baby so my childhood was right smack in the middle of the '90's. I consider 1994-1998 to be the best five year period for baseball cards of all-time. I had my subscription to Beckett like I'm sure a lot of you did and wold sift through it - looking at the up and down arrows - ranking in my loose leaf what boxes I dreamed of buying with my Christmas or birthday money. I was an avid Cleveland Indians and Albert Belle fan growing up. It was a perfect storm for me to stop collecting in the start of the new millennium - Belle was forced to retire after the 2000 season, the Tribe started to suck after 2001 and I graduated from high school and shifted focus to college and girls. Baseball cards went to the back burner for the next 13 to 14 years. In January of this year another perfect storm happened in my life - but this time to get me back into the hobby. I started a new job - my first job in my life that actually could be considered a decent career. I am working for the state of Delaware as the head cook at a Veterans Home. I am easily making double if not triple what I have ever made at any other job I've ever had. I won't get into this much but in January I also made it to three years sobriety. I have always been really hard on myself for my past mistakes but this year I decided to reward myself a little bit and make a bucket list of baseball cards I always wanted to have as a kid. I started the list with my top 20 favorite inserts. I also started with my 5 favorite players as a kid - Albert Belle, Frank Thomas, Ken Griffey Jr., Juan Gonzalez and Kenny Lofton. I would go after these five players in the twenty insert sets I had listed. It has been a freaking blast and now we are in October and I have increased my list to 100+ inserts I loved as a kid and have upped my player collection to 12 - Barry Bonds, Greg Maddux, Tony Gwynn, Mike Piazza, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez and Roberto Alomar. Over the past few days I have decided to rank my top 90 inserts from the 90's. These are just my personal favorite. I'd love to hear any and all feedback you guys and gals have on my list! Thanks for reading!

Not bad and some of those shouldn't kill your wallet either. I'd love to see your pics of your progress. All those would look neat together.

Welcome to FCB as a poster! Great post, btw! The thing I most appreciate is you listed your favorites, that don't directly coincide with " most expensive" or "rarest"... These are cards that you loved and that's awesome! If I have any Gwynn doubles, I'd help you out!
I also appreciate that your #41 is my #1 , and that difference is what makes this hobby (actually the hobby in the 90's) so great. For what it's worth, a set I most loved as a 90's guy was the 1994 UD Diamond Collection. It was my favorite set to collect, with the East, Central and West variations gave it just enough difficulty, all the stars were in it, and they looked cool!

Welcome to the board! Interesting to see your list. I'd be interested in hearing and seeing what your Albert Belle PC looks like.

You and I think alike. I like that. Good luck with the list ! I know I'm somewhat doing it with Frank Thomas, although I haven't really picked anything up of his in a couple years.

Eric- Welcome to FCB. Bunch of great guys here. Awesome 90's list, even though it only has 1 Topps insert on it, lol. Congrats on your job and 3 years clean. My son will hit 3 years soon, and I'm really proud of him. Been married to an alcoholic for 27 years and hopefully she will beat the awful disease one day. Anyway, I'm a Thome and Phillies collector. I really liked the 1995 Topps set. Glad your back in the hobby. Have fun!

Hey man, WELCOME! I love the attitude you have towards collecting: "I want cool cards of guys I like." That is collecting at its core.

Do you mind updating the list? Maybe list the players you have next to each one. I am going to try to throw a handful of these your way.
