What is the story on STAR cards from the 80's/90's?

Love this thread I have a ton of darryl strawberry ones but one that has puzzled me is the 1984 star set that is autographed and numbered? I have seen other autographed ones of other players and it's sealed also any help?

Yeah , Clark has one from 88' legit item. I had a sealed one and opened it back in the day which I regret. I have 2 open sets now. Looking for a sealed one to add at some point. They basically issued the same set w/ and w/o the extra Autographed card which there is also an unautographed version of the same card in the set (at least w/ Clark)

I have only a couple of star company cards in my pc, but I think they are all somewhat difficult.

A six card promotional griffey/ Jerome walton set with a 1990 National Convention notation.

An Nolan Ryan astros promo (mid 80s I think) with an NBA logo on the reverse.

Speaking of Clark, I've been searching for his 1990 Nova Promo and 1992 Silver Promo.

Thanks, Ryan, for helping with the checklist and for all your help with my Clark collection!

Hey Joel -

No problem . I just wish I didn't take 10 years off as I feel I'd be in a better position on my collection and be able to help more with you and some of the other guys. Not to mention the market to pick stuff up was better then , I regret taking a break. I'd like to land the Bay Bombers Glossy for sure, as much as you'd like to land the 2 your missing. Hopefully one day they will pop for us. It's annoying to be so close but so far ;)

I'm still missing the 90 Nova Promo and 92 Silver Promo (and possibly some others?). Hopefully they'll come up sooner or later.

I vaguely remember them from the 80's. I never saw them at shops. They always seemed to show up at shows whenever a player got hot.

My Star card page: http://www.markgrace.com/museum/starcards.html

Star Company produced cards in limited quantities, with most production runs at or below 5,000 cards. They were sold in hobby shops by team in sealed, transparent plastic bags, known to many as "polybags." Cards were made available nationally through a small network of a half dozen so-called master distributors although some parts of the mid-west and various southern states received little attention among the distributor network. Many cards were initially purchased in response to ads in sports card magazines and even at various sporting events, including minor league baseball and hockey games. Sometimes limited Silver, Gold and Platinum promo cards were inserted one in every X sets, making for the rarest Star cards. Some sets were issued with the top card autographed and hand numbered, with a paper COA included.

Joel -

Great run , besides what you've posted and two promos you mentioned needing , this is the only other one that I know of that you need.

Here are the two missing promos

I need the darn Glossy Bay Bombers Promo.

I've got all the sets in "opened/snap case" form, but also am trying to assemble all the sets that came in sealed bag for as well. I believe I have the Yellow Autod set somewhere, but also have these. Anyone know what other sets came sealed that I don't have? (Besides the Reg Bay Bombers and Reg Clark/Mitchell)
