What the heck?... I offered $7000 and it AUTODECLINED ... You'd think he'd at least want to negotiate back and forth?

its not gonna sell at all, will just sit in this idiots museum rotting.

I see responses like this and it makes me want to keep my good cards forever. No one is ever forced to sell anything, especially if they don't like someones negotiating tactic or price. Honestly if I pulled that card I'd just sit on it and not even let the general public know I have it.

As long as he's not the next Andre Ethier I'm fine with whatever.
Then I guess you would include Cuddyer as well, since before this season, they had nearly identical best seasons, 2 All-Star games apiece, but Cuddyer is lacking Ethier's Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards.
Yeah, Ethier's having a down year, but Cuddyer is hitting 52 points higher at Home at Coors Field than away, and he has the same away average, .305, as Ethier.
So I know you were just making a dig, but I found it an ironic comment considering how similar the two players' careers have been.

I think what amazes me is anyone, no matter their interest, would pay this amount of money for any card not vintage and not having the name of Ruth, Wagner, or Mantle on it. The chances that any major league player will ever perform good enough to make the card a break even investment are less than slim. Even after his career is over, even if he hits 500 homers or let's be generous and say 600, and he has 3,000 hits...so do a lot of other players. Now, if said player ends up being the all time hit king or HR king, then we are talking. But you're basically playing the lotto where the tickets cost thousands a piece as opposed to $1. As a collector, or any other type of buyer, this makes no sense to me. Even if you had money to burn, Bill Gates would go broke paying this kind of money for assets that end up being worthless or worth way less than initially paid. It's like a reverse investment, as most sports related stuff is. To do it on the $10 or even $100 level is feasible. To do it on this extreme, it's just pure madness.

I doubt anybody willing to pay $8-10K for a card is the least bit worried about making their money back. I'm with you, I would much rather have a mid grade Mantle 52 or a Joe Jackson Cracker Jack but some people just don't like vintage and that's ok with me because this hobby needs all kinds.

Right. I guess I just think it would be better spent on actual stars. Buying prospects to flip or collecting them because you're interested in the player is one thing. I just can't figure this out.
