Recently it occurred to me that cards with 2 all-time great players who played the same position on the same team make for a seriously cool card (other than pitchers, which for me seems like less of a big deal since each team has so many... although that's just my opinion). To me it's really cool to consider being a fan of a team during two different eras and having an all-time great player at a position to watch and cheer for. I've picked up a couple from two of the nicer sets (IMHO) of the last 20 years. I snagged the dual patch card tonight (thanks to some help from some of the guys here on a concern I had bongo870 @mlballtimegreats).

I happened to have this one scanned, but otherwise wouldn't have thought twice about that kind of subset. The poorly chosen Hodges cut actually really detracts from the card. Plus they couldn't have set a small photo of him as well? WTF? They could have done a much better job on this one, but only 4 copies out there and have not seen any of the other 3 to see if they botched those as well.

Then, I always like the 73 Topps Garvey card that had Wes Parker congratulating him at home. You see more of Parker than you do of Garvey though. Garvey would succeed Parker at 1B for the Dodgers.

That's a great pairing of two guys who've kind of flown under the radar since their retirement.

Your comment on the cut had me thinking about this thread below, I totally agree...
