Where does the '86 ASG Inserts Reprint come from?

These were inserted in the All Star Programs from 1981-1985 as we all know, but in 1986 these were not inserts and were just printed on the pages of the program. The original Dawson has Howard Johnson on the back and is just cut out of the program. Some one took these images and reprinted them with a white back and reprint on the back in order to provide them to collectors without having to cut up the magazines. I got mine from eBay seller luvsport992o9f in a lot of odd ball Dawson items including several new mention cards. BAM cards has also sold them on eBay.

Nice cards! I like how this swatch (presumably) has part of his autograph in it.

1993 Finest Refractors #84 Andre Dawson AS* /241: One of the few of these cards that The Hawk doesn't own himself!!!!

What's this story on this?

Thank you very much! I love that it is an autographed card with a memorabilia piece with part of his signature.

Andre Dawson is a collector. He used to have a very impressive coin collection that he sold to open up a restaurant and he also collects certain cards of his. For a reason unknown to me, Andre Dawson was known to pay up to 3x Beckett high value for his 93 Finest Refractor back in the day making his refractor even harder to get. This copy is only the third copy I own of the reportedly 241 produced.

Thanks for the info. Was familar with the inserts but not the difference with the '86 set and then the variation reprint. I always enjoy a good background story like that!

I was reading your signature. You have 155K Dawson cards or just that many cards in general?

I have that many Andre Dawson cards sorted, counted, and catalogued. I probably have at least another 10,000 Andre Dawson I haven't sorted, counted, and catalogued yet.

Wow. That is dedication. I was looking for an image of numerous 5K boxes to post, but can't find a good one and mine are stuffed under my stairs, so I can't photograph them. That is 33 boxes filled with just Dawson.

This is what I image at hawk's house then...

My collection is currently taking up two rooms in my house and I am in the process of cutting it down to one room. I have all my extra Dawson cards separated by manufacture and then year and then card. I am in the process of converting all the 5000 count boxes to the same box. I used to have them on metal bakers racks but my mom needed them for her pantry and I'm going to build a custom cabinet for them anyways. But here are my extras setting on the floor right now.
