i.e you've got a parallel numbered to 1000. You pull an autograph of that card. Did the player sign the card 1000 times, and it was printed 2000, or was it printed 1000 times, and they signed it x number, and if so, what's x? Thanks!

Where are you getting the number 1000 from? Looks like a Purple parallel /25 and an Autograph Purple Parallel /5. In that set they're two distinct and different cards numbered to different sets of numbering. So there is a 01/25 Purple as well as a 01/05 Autographed.
There are other sets however where there may be a card serial numbered to /1000 but maybe only the first 100 of those are signed. Depends on the set

02 Lead Certified Fabric of the Game had some cards that were /25. The first 5 were autographed, but still numbered /25. So there were 5 auto, and 20 non auto. Never understood that.
