Wish I had something that was a dupe to me that I could trade but my only dupe is a Dunwoody 36 Pattern# 63... odd in that I had 3 of that particular diffractor card/pattern before trading one away last year. 3168.. Impressive. If I ever get one that is a dupe to me that you dont have I will certainly contact you first xyz

I recently bought a lot of 1998 Topps Tek singles in an effort to get the lone Sandy Alomar Jr. Unfortunately none of them were diffractors. The rest of them are up for trade or sale for Alomar patterns I need, though I would consider other Alomar cards I need. This is what I have:

12 - Craig Biggio pattern 35
24 - Todd Walker pattern 67
25 - Tino Martinez pattern 14
38 - Vinny Castilla pattern 36
42 - Derek Bell pattern 81
52 - Jason Kendall pattern 50, 76
57 - Barry Larkin pattern 22
58 - Tony Clark pattern 81
62 - Jose Cruz Jr. pattern 28
70 - Chuck Knoblauch pattern 47, 53
75 - Brian Jordan pattern 66
78 - Mark Grace pattern 31
79 - Jeff King pattern 67
90 - Brian Jordan pattern 16

The Alomar patterns I need are:
6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 34, 40, 51, 54, 55, 66, 70, 71, 78, 83, 84, 86, 87, 88

I am getting the 5 sets. I will let everyone know when I get them what was in there.
So you got five sets of 1-90, so it will be interesting to see if any diffractors got in the mix but otherwise which patterns you got for each player. If they're available, I'll be interested in any of the Belle you get :)

I have an opportunity to buy 5 complete sets (1-90) for $50 per set. I don't think this is even close to a good price. What should I try to grab these at?

Are you going to try to bust them and sell individually?
I would pay high Beckett for any of these below

Another sealed box just sold for $313, a new record. Same seller had another one go for $288 a week ago. Wondering how many he has left in the closet.

never opened any tek back in the day (the first year of it came out right at a time i was entering an unplanned/unwanted hiatus from my big buying days and the last year was right before i was able to get fully into the hobby again) so i have almost none...i think i opened exactly one pack each of 1998 and 1999 that came in variety boxes several years ago plus i have probably less than a dozen loose singles scattered around (among over 2 million total cards)....i knew i had a 98 ben grieve sitting on a shelf by itself for nearly 10 years and for some reason i was thinking it may have been a diffractor ...made a point to go pull it down this week and was disappointed to see it was just a base card ....

my disappointment was eased a bit when i resumed one of my organization projects christmas eve night ....covering all sports , i have about 1200 products boxed up in numerical order (with details of what product is in what box entered into my excel files)....have been slowly working my way through 5-6 more boxes integrating stuff into the correct boxes and creating new ones....included in the the current material were 10 tek cards , 5 each from 1998 and 1999....don't have a scan of it yet (will try to get one up when i finally get all the junk off my scanner) , but i was very pleasantly surprised to discover my very first diffractor , a 1998 darin erstad card 35 pattern 32....(as an absolute parallel fanatic AND a 90's insert fiend , merely having ONE of these means i will now likely be forced to start chasing down more)....

also , i knew these were quite popular , but when i looked on ebay and saw what the last erstad sold for it really blew my mind...over 35 dlvd - almost 6 times hi column....it brings up a question for tek (and especially diffractor) collectors...was a sale that high typical or was that one a serious aberration ? also , do you think the new tek product has fueled (or will fuel) interest in the older product (primarily among people who have never been interested in tek before) or do you think it will have the opposite effect , sort of de-mystifying the product and making it seem less "special" ?

Congratulations on your first diffractor. That is awesome. Got my 1st Thome diffractors this month and they are so cool looking in hand. Let me know if any of those Tek cards you have are of Thome. I think the new Tek cards, if anything, will rekindle iterest in the older Tek cards, especially 1998 Tek. And hopefully start new interest in them.
