My dad bought me a lot of 200 different 1960 cards for my 8th grade promotion present in 1980. I've been working on it off and on ever since. I need Mantle, Musial, and mostly high numbers to complete the set. I recently moved and the cards are still in storage. I'm looking forward to being able to break them out

Very cool. I remember those days when you could buy a large vintage lot like your father did for next to nothing. That is how my father and I mainly filled out our collection together. We had cards we purchased from people after putting "buying" ads in the paper in the late '70's and early '80's and when we were within a few hundred cards of a set we would buy a 100 or 200 card lot from various dealers.

Good luck on the set. It should be fun to get it completed.

My main goal this year is to focus on my 1951 Bowman set. Kind of an offshoot of that will probably be to move away from modern cards. I also want to find a good way to display my collection.

Off the top of my head...
1) Reach 75 2011 Museum autos
2) Reach 125 Museum autos from all years
3) Complete my 1941 Play Ball set (need the big names like Joe D and Ted W)
4) Obtain 3 cards off my most wanted Frank Thomas list, which I need to compile, anyway
5) Make my hobby a little more self-financing by cutting down on the random stuff, terminating projects I've lost interest in, and selling the stuff I've had in my "to sell" drawer for years. Basically, cure myself of LAS.

It's not really a goal, but I'd like to open a case of Heritage this year and complete a master set. It always looks fun, uncovering the SSPs and chasing variations, but every year when it comes time I veer away. With the 1967 design and my girlfriend moving beyond the blaster-box-a-day stage in her collecting, I think a case break and master set is a good project to share.

Jonny Gomes collection:

1) Check off 1 of 6 missing cards from 2002-2007 (last card I found was in 2012)
2) Check off 1 of 5 missing cards from 2013-2015
3) (At least) one game used bat and one game used jersey
4) One game used item that's either from his MiLB days, or from 2003-04 in the majors
5) Move collection from toploaders into binders

Have leads on #s 3 and 4; know where 4 of 5 cards are for #2 , but 3 seem to be untouchable; and #1 is gonna be near impossible. Of those 6 cards, one is /2, one is /5, two probably weren't produced (although a redemption card for one might exist), and one is a prototype. The easiest to find will be the 2006 Upper Deck F/X Blue.

Matt Diaz collection:

1) Check off one card (missing 4).

Joey Gomes collection:

1) Check off two cards (missing 4).

1. Add at least 4 new exhibits cards.
2. Sell stuff I don't want.
3. Add 5 cards from 2015 releases.
4. Get at least 60% of 2016 Puckett releases.

I was probably conservative with goal 4. I've already picked up 2 cards from 2015 but they were numbered to 5 and 10 respectively.

Get rid of my team stacks and freaking organize. I have my first baby girl due in April so I think I'll try for a master set of something from 2016 to give her later....if she wants it

With 3/4 of the year gone, how is everyone doing? I'm very happy with my progress this year.

*Complete PSA 9 1970's Topps RC collection by finding a '71 Blyleven- Settled for an 8.5. A 9 is out of my league.
*Find a single t206 back I need to get closer to my t206 Wilhelm back run. - DONE
*Get 10 cards for ARod collection- DONE; actually got 12 so far
*Add 1 card to each of my following collections: 70's Nolan Ryan PSA 9- NOT YET, 60's HOF RC PSA- DONE; actually got 3, 50's HOF RC PSA- DONE; actually got 2, Mantle PSA- DONE; actually got 2, T. Williams PSA- Gave up on collection and sold
*Sell a whole bunch of $1-$10 cards- DONE
*I also made some serious progress with my 80's HOF RC collection that was unexpected.

So after I typed and read this I realized I only would like to add 17 cards to my collection this upcoming year.

Jumping in at the home stretch on the thread here, my biggest goal I had back in January was to top 600 different Wakefield cards, it took more of the year than I thought but I got there in September. I made some solid progress in my Biggio collection, my goal was to be at 800 at year end, I'm almost there now and I think with some ideas I currently have in mind I'm going to up mu goal to 900, I still feel that's reasonable. My last goal for the year and what is starting to feel like a lost cause is to obtain a Herb Pennock card in a Sox uniform from his actual time with the Red Sox. I know he has a couple in the 60s and some panini stuff now but I really want an original from the early 20s for my Red Sox HOF collection. Ive missed a few this year for various reasons and there's a BIN/BO on eBay now that I feel is unreasonable in price. I'll get one sooner or later, just maybe later than I thought.

Morning ladies and gents. 5 days from the new year I haven't seen a thread yet.
I only accomplished half of my '15 goals but it was a great year for my collection and deemed a success. Moving forward into the new year what would you like to accomplish?
Here's mine

1) get all the supplies I need and get my PC into said supplies and organized. Get rid of all old supplies (top loaders, snap cases, magnetics, screw downs)

2) continue to work on my auto sets. Finishing one is not feasible really but to progress and add a few especially to one of them would be huge.

3) Buy a box of something pre-2009 To rip. 95% Likely won't get anything I'm looking for but would be fun.

4) continue to save and add a mantle sweet spot

That's It for me really, had a bigger list last year but other than the enormity of the sets I'm doing, my collection has narrowed and focused to a point I don't feel overwhelmed by new releases and the "rush" to get the same old crap

lets see, with 7 days to go:
1) I have about 75% of my PC in said cases and team bags. need to get another case of 180pt and 2 20ct boxes of 120pt. all the old supplies are being used for shipping purposes.

2) was able to add a lot of cards to the PC as I enlarged my overall collection scope. a few harder to find cards and some cards I didn't even know I wanted.

3) didn't happen

4) didn't get close. in fact the little I had set aside went to other things. haha that's OK.
