The Brewers have a few good candidates based on WAR.

Hunter Pence is the most recent, but the Brewers also, once upon a time, drafted Matt Morris and Nomar.

The best performer, in terms or WAR, is probably Jason Giambi.

What notable "wish we could've" players are lurking in your teams past draft history?

Great question, I actually had done research on that in the past, if I find it again, I can actually answer the question also...

I assume you're a Mets fan like me judging by your name and picture, yes? :p
If so, you'd be heart pressed to find someone better than Clemens

Red Sox drafted Mark Teixeira in 1998, Brandon Belt in 2006, Pat Burrell in 1994, and Charlie Blackmon in 2005. Yasmani Grandal was a 2007 draftee, not a bad player when he isn't juicing, but he's not the best could-be catcher (that might be Yan Gomes in 2008). Anthony DiSclafani was another 2008 draftee, he'd be a nice addition to this year's pitching staff!

At least they dodged a bullet with Matt LaPorta in 2006!

They also drafted Pedro Alvarez at one point.

Pretty sure Pat Burrell was on the Phillies in 04.

Not my team, but my favorite player, Steve Garvey, was originally drafted by the Twins. He went to Michigan State instead.

Cubs - 2003 - Tim Lincecum (48th Round, No. 1,408) Decided to attend college.

I agree with this, although if it were a matter of placing a player on the team today, Sonny Gray would be a nice choice.

Just looked over the 2000-2010 Cubs drafts, here's the interesting names I found, with the year and round:

Colin Kaepernick - 2009, 43rd
Sony Gray - 2008, 27th
Micah Owings - 2004, 19th
Matt LaPorta - 2003, 14th
Tim Lincecum - 2003, 48th
Khalil Greene - 2001, 14th
